Bottle - Soft Drink
Soft drink came in bottles owned by the manufacturer for re use and bought at the local grocery store or at a large city store on a shopping expedition. The shape of the bottles changed as did the stopper used to seal it.Historical: Change of bottles - shape, glass, stopper, embossing, use Aesthetic: Display showing embossing and shape.Clear glass lemonade bottle with straight sides four fifths of the way up then tapering sharply in to form a neck and then the opening. At top of sides there is large embossed writing around the circumference. There are 3 rows of embossed writing towards the base on one side and some on the base. A bakelite stopper is screwed in. This has a rectangular shape to assist a grip for turning.W. Woodroofe Ltd. Norwood S.A. at the top. This bottle is not sold / It remains the Property / Of W. This doll belonged to member Allan Blain's sister. It was donated to WDHS and then recently returned after an extended loan. She has been re-dressed in cotton dress pantaloons with tucks and lace trim.This doll is an example of the toys available .......Doll with wax over composition head and straw stuffed body and hair wig. She has blue glass eyes and red painted mouth. Her hair has been elaborately plaited into four braids which join halfway down the back of the head with the remainder hanging free. This railway station building was erected in 1887 and closed in 1990. Now a new chapter begins with a newly restored station building amd platform that re-opened in October 2010 to be used by the Wycheproof Community.The Wycheproof Railway station constructed by Hossack & Brown in 1887 is Heritage listed and is on the Government Buildings Register. This photo is one of only a few available of the early days of the Station.The complex is historically significant at a State level AHC A.4. The Railway station contains significant detailing such as in the turned timber posts and overall composition. This early photo of Wycheproof railway station, shows a construction of timber with corrugated iron clad roof,in c.1904. Features of the design are the timber verandah posts with decorative elements which include chamfers and supporting diagonal timber brackets. The gabled roof has finials on the east and west ends. Bottle - Milk, 1950's - 1960's
Bottled milk was bought at the local store. The bottles were re cycled and remained the property of the manufacturer. to encourage their return a deposit was usually paid on them. Pre 1966 liquids were measured in pints.Historical: Dairy farmers lived in the Kiewa Valley and sent their milk to be pasteurised and bottled by a local Dairy Company. The bottles changed shape, size and embossing. Aesthetic: Display showing variations of shape, embossing and size Clear glass small bottle with straight sides nearly two thirds up from the base tapering gently to the opening which has a thick long lip before the opening.
