A folder containing newspaper cuttings of the visit in 1952 by The Mayor and Mayoress of Rochester in the U.K. to Bendigo and Rochester. This item was purchased at Leski's, Melbourne, Medical collection auction, 8 May 2013. The incubator was part of a rare collection of medical, dental and pharmaceutical objects belonging to a tourism business, Kryal Castle, near Ballarat, Victoria from 1974. At some point,apparently, an officer manager discarded the museum records, so the provenance of the neonatal incubator, and many other items in the Leski auction, has been lost.Neonatal incubator, "Glenleigh", made and used, late 1950s- early 1960s. The four side laminated panels as well as bottom panel are possibly made of asbestos fibreboard,. Each panel is sealed with polished aluminium strips, and has a metal handrail.The incubator is mounted on four castors made by "Shepherd USA'. On the front panel is a bakerlite dial and a bakerlite switch. The item is incomplete: the cover, probably glass, is missing. Inside the unit is an old calico infant's mattress.There are two name plates on the front panel; “Australia/ Victor Watson/Limited/ New Zealand” and "Glenleigh/ Baby Incubator/ Aeronautical & Industrial Lighting Co/ 677-9 North Road Carnegie”. Copy of a newspaper article titled Old battery to charge-up tunnel tourism. Date written on the paper is 11/1/85. The Thompson's Foundry Battery was re-erected in the Parkin's Reef Reserve after being used at Bola Creek near the NSW border. This item was purchased from the auction house Leski's. It was to be included in a Medical collection auction on 8 May 2013 but was left off the listing. Museum Curator made a private offer of $160 prior to the auction which the owner accepted. The weighing scales was part of a rare collection of medical, dental and pharmaceutical objects belonging to a tourism business, Kryal Castle, near Ballarat, Victoria from 1974. At some point,apparently, an officer manager discarded the museum records, so the provenance of the weighing scales, and many other items in the Leski auction, has been lost.This weighing scales is made of yellow painted metal, with a slide gauge in imperial measure. Manufacturer: Secal.Vogel & Haike, Hamburg [nameplate at front].Manufactured in the the , and such scales were widely used in Infant Welfare Centres across Victoria and possibly other states in the 1970s. A midwife/ infant welfare nurse Martine Jackson recalls seeing a weighing scales like this as a student in the 1970s in Melbourne.infant care -

One edged in blue, the other in red.4089.R1 - blue edged pennant, showing the tourist sites around a place called Epen in the southern part of the province of Limburg. This is known because the name of the town is in large red letters. Three locations shown 1. Kamper Boerderij - A farm providing camping grounds. 2. Kasteel Beusdael - The Beusdael Castle 3. Wingbergermoelen - Wingberger Mill Also a little tent beneath the name of the town, with refers to the camping holiday. Also a maker's mark on the pennant, a small triangle with the letters L, A & B within it. 4089.R2 - red edged pennant, showing the area around Vaals in Limburg province, the name is in large red letters. The scene shows the meeting point between the Netherlands, Germany & Belgium - "Drie Landen Punt" (Three Country Meeting Point) Also shows the height of the viewing point (193m), as well showing other features including: - Hotel Bellevue - Uitzichttoren - viewing tower - Panorama Aken - Panorama of Aachen, Germany - Spoorbrug-Moresnet - Railwaybridge-Moresnet in Belgium.
