David Medhurst (senior) ran a fruit shop in Grimshaw Street Greensborough and also reported on local events for the Hurstbridge "Advertiser" during the 1930s. This notebook, in the collection of his descendants, contains newspaper clippings of his articles and handwritten notes detailing payment for his work. In 1965, the Diamond Valley Shire planning association recommended to Council that a large area of land north of Greensborough be acquired for Parkland. The idea of a Civic Centre was included with a map of the area from Grimshaw Street in the south to the MMBW pipeline reserve in the north. The site of the Greensborough swimming pool taken from the corner of Grimshaw Street and Para Road. The barometer board shows the amount needed by public subscription. The two storey hall in the centre back had been the Rechabite Hall, later Masonic Hall then Ashril Theatre. The picture also shows the undeveloped nature of the area behind the Main St shops. This area was later sealed and made into the Carter car parking reserve.
