Horse Saddle Girth, James Robb, Belt attachments presumably made prior to 1917
James Robb (born 1940) was an importer and manufacturer of all kinds of saddlery. References: Centre for Australian Art, 2020 http://www.printsandprintmaking.gov.au/impressions/31305/ Faded, mustard coloured woven strap with buckles on either end. Centre of strap has a thin leather belt loop attached. Buckles are attached with brown, rectangular leather strips which appear to be hand-sewn to strap in white thread. Two holes which appear to be for a buckle prong, are visible on one side above the leather buckle attachment. A row of machine stitched holes on this side suggests a rectangular, arrow headed strap was once attached.J. ROBB MAKER HOBARTTOWN stamped into brown leather buckle attachments. -

Equipment - Stretcher, 1965 to 1999
A Neil Robinson stretcher is a lightweight carrying device modelled on Japanese bamboo litters, the Neil Robertson rescue stretcher was developed in the early 1900s by John Neil Robertson. Used for lifting an injured person vertically. The stretcher is made from stout canvas reinforced with bamboo slats. The stretcher is designed for removing an injured person from spaces wherein access, doors or hatches are too small to permit the use of regular stretchers. Since that time, head protection has developed more sophistication. This is a particularly good example of an attempt at safety for cyclists. It also indicates attempts to lighten (in weight) to provide advantage in cycling races.Slim line head protector consisting of a black padded leather head band with three padded leather straps extending over the crown. Artefact, School Satchel, Circa 1900
Satchels such as these were commonly used by young boys to carry their lunch and school items between school and home. They were used commonly in the days when much of the requirements such as slates and paper were used as class sets. They proved to be serviceable and required only the most basic of maintenace as in stitching, to be kept in good order. Being adjustable they would also serve a student for a number of years. No information is available on Henry Alexander Cain of Surrey Hills.A common item with which many people would identify.Brown leather rectanular satchel with gusset on either side . It is fastened on the front with two metal buckles and has four adjustable leather back straps attached to the bag with metal studs. These are adjustable through holes in the leather straps. Likewise the front straps can be fastened in a number of different holes. The leather has an overall snake skin pattern.Solid leather is stamped in the leather on the front. henry Alexander Cain ******Rd Surrey Hillswarrnambool, school history, boy's school bag
