Australian Offshore Services, part of the Energy Services Division of P&O Australia Ltd. recently placed an order for a new anchor—handling supply vessel to be built by Australian Shipbuilding Industries (WA) Pty. Ltd. at Cockbum Sound, W.A. The 2,650 tonnes displacement ship will be the largest 111' the A.O.S. fleet and the first built for the Company in W.A. Delivery is scheduled for September 1982, after which the ship will join other units of the A.O.S. fleet serving 011 and gas projects in Bass Strait and off the W.A. coast. PRINCIPAL DIMENSIONS: Length, overall 66.30 metres 14.15 " 5.65 H Beam Depth A new oil rig supply vessel for Australian Offshore Services, part of the Energy Services Division of P&O Australia Ltd. is due to be launched on September 9 at the Australian Shipbuilding Industries shipyard at South Coogee (W.A.). The ship will be named Lady Elizabeth by Ms Anne Elizabeth Blanckensee, wife of Mr Alan Blanckensee, a Director of P&O Australia Ltd. A.O.S. operates a large fleet of supply Vessels which support oil and gas exploration projects off the W.A. and Victorian coasts and LADY ELIZABETH will be the 14th ship built in Australia for the Company in the last 14 years. LADY ELIZABETH (2,650 tonnes displacement) is 66.30 metres in length, 14.15 metres beam and 5.65 metres moulded depth. She Will be powered by four Daihatsu engines developlng a combined total of 7,200 b.h.p. After the ceremony, the vessel's fitting out will continue and she is expected to enter service in October, under the Command of Captain G.D. Mellor of Thornlie, W.A. -

Wodonga West School opened on 24 January 1870 and closed on 9 May 1950. It was located near the current intersection of McKoy Street and the Hume Freeway in West Wodonga on land donated by J.W. Klinge. The school replaced an older school, “Green Hills School, which was located north of the railway line. A public telephone was installed at the school and the mail service operated from the school three days each week. In 1935 a row of 15 ornamental trees was planted along the boundary fence, one for each of the pupils at the school. Henry Richardson came from England in 1852 and this was his home from 1871 to 1888. His son Henry, better known as Harry, managed the property from 1888 until his death in 1926. The property was sold in 1932 and has been known as Old Barnawartha for over 140 years. The homestead exhibited no particular style, it looked like a Cornish Miner’s cottage, and appeared as if pieces were added on as the need arose. The property is well known for topping both sheep and cattle sales at Newmarket.This item is significant because it depicts the home of an early Wodonga District pioneerA black and white image of an old homestead. This promotional film made in the early 1950s in Melbourne. Padre Oliver may have been inspired by an earlier film also called The Flying Angel, shon at the Mission in 1948. An article for the Herald, Saturday 27 December 1952, page 9, mentions the screening of a Cinesound short about the world's merchant fleets and the Missions to Seamen. An illuminated light house beside the ship - a £5000 model of an ocean-going cargo ship on display at the State Theatre for a week - was a collection box for the work of the mission. Flying Angel flag. Padre Oliver with flyer from the Flying Angel Club on a ship visit. Crew on a ship. Clubs at the Port Melbourne, Williamstown, and Melbourne. The mine was the “Hustlers Royal Reserve Mine No 2” and was closed in 1912. The Soldiers Memorial Institute was erected on the mine site and opened on 15.11.1921 and occupied by the Bendigo RSL Sub Branch/Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch Inc since then. The Victorian Mounted Rifles museum was first established at Buna Barracks Albury in 1986. In 2000, when the regiment relocated to Building 105 North Bandiana, the museum collection was packed then relayed in a new space. Major General Irving was commander of 2nd Division. Coloured photos of the historic Literary Institute during renovation. The building was a private residence for many years (for Mrs. Feilding) and later as the Tourist Office for a short period. Then as a cafe, restaurant for a short period, then in 2012 privately owned.3 Coloured photographs of restoration work of the historical Literary Institute. Two photos, one in (Album 1 p36.) show external work and one of internal renovations. The internal photo shows 3 adults and one child looking at the renovations. Worksheet notes state the adults were Historical Society members. The internal photo shows the lower ground floor completely removed. The two external photos appear to show the building open for visitors as sign boards are out on the verge.stawell -

The granite coach house and kitchen are part of the Glen Loeman complex which is situated on Loemans Road in Bulla. Most of the buildings on the estate were constructed in the 1850's. The first owner of the property was Michail Loeman and his wife Isobella.A coloured photograph of outbuildings. The pitched roof is slate clad and is partly moss covered. The grey stone chimney stack at the end of the building is finished with a simple cornice. The stone walls are constructed in a random rubble pattern. There are two doorways. The wider doorway has black timber doors and is finished with an arched stone lintel and the smaller doorway has a straight stone lintel. The photograph is associated with Harry Holmes who was a member of the Australian Imperial Force based in Egypt at the time. Egypt was a major base for the AIF from December 1914. A number of campaigns were fought in this theatre. There were two campaigns involving the AIF. Note that not all the fighting was actually geographically in Egypt.
