Pages 8, 9 and 10 from Melbourne Legacy Bulletin of 9.11.1989. Joynt's long association with Melbourne Legacy was celebrated at the Comradeship Hour at Legacy House on Tuesday 24 October 1989, two years after his death and just before the transfer of his uniform to the War Museum in Canberra. The address was given by Legatee Fred Holdsworth and followed by the complete citation from Joynt's V.C. award. See also Cat No. 01599. A special luncheon was held for 61 World War 1 widows as a lead up to "Legacy Week". Legatees dressed up as moustached waiters to add a bit of humour to the day. Due to its success it was held for a number of years. Legatee waiters included Lucky Luscombe George Woodward and Alan Woodward. Ron Austin, a World War I veteran spoke to entertain the ladies. These photos show a gathering of Legacy's handicapped dependents outside Legacy House. Also an outing to a bowling alley. Every month Legacy's handicapped dependents were invited to go on outing for take part in recreational and educational activities. These programmes aimed to develop independence and thus lessen the need for reliance on others for simple routine functions. Once a year there is a two week camp this also gave the mothers some respite. Two Legacy widows from the Highett Legacy Widows Club. On the left is Mary Brooks the vice president and Jean Wolstencroft the secretary. Keesing Photographers took a series of photos on the same day of various ladies and some were committee members at different clubs. Presumably there had a been a meeting at Legacy House of members from the many clubs (including Hampton, Highett, Caufield). It is assumed that the date was 1991 due to the reference number from the photographic studio 911030B-14 could mean 3 October 1991, along with 00646, 00648, 00649, 00650, 00651. Victorian Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VIOSH) Australia is the Asia-Pacific centre for teaching and research in occupational health and safety (OHS) and is known as one of Australia's leaders on the field. VIOSH has a global reputation for its innovative approach within the field of OHS management. VIOSH had its first intake of students in 1979. At that time the Institution was known as the Ballarat College of Advanced Education. In 1990 it became known as Ballarat University College, then in 1994 as University of Ballarat. It was 2014 that it became Federation University. VIOSH Australia students are safety managers, senior advisors and experienced OHS professionals. They come from all over Australia and industry. Students are taught active research and enquiry; rather than textbook learning and a one-size fits all approach. VIOSH accepts people into the Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hazard Management who have no undergraduate degree - on the basis of extensive work experience and knowledge.
