The University of Ballarat was established by the University Act 1993 and came into existence on 1 January 1994. Built 1875 for Mrs Nihill as the Club Hotel after the previous building burnt down, Architect Michael Ryan Ararat. Verandah erected 1876. Mortgagee's sale of Club Hotel occurred in 1887.
