Honora Perkins, the daughter of George and Julia Perkins, was accidentally killed when a cart in which she was travelling home from school was overturned near Linton.Statutory declaration, handwritten on pale-blue lined paper, written (presumably by Samuel Lewers) for George Perkins, who could not read or write. Asserts that George Perkins has insufficient money to pay for the burial of his child Honora Perkins, who was accidentally killed on November 30th, 1868. The Gallipoli Star and its ribbon were designed in 1917 by R K Peacock, but official approval from King George V for the proposed campaign medal was withdrawn after the ribbon, but not the medal, had been manufactured, because it was to have been presented only to Australians and New Zealanders, but not British or other Empire soldiers involved in the campaign. Some Anzac veterans are known to have been issued with lengths of ribbon during the war in anticipation of the medal's production. In 1990, Mr Ross Smith, a former Australian Army Warrant Officer and Vietnam veteran, arranged, at his own expense, for dies from the original design to be manufactured, and for A J Parkes & Co Pty Ltd, of Brisbane, to strike 1000 examples of the medal. 200 of these stars were presented to surviving Australian and New Zealand Gallipoli veterans to mark the 75th anniversary of the campaign. The remainder were sold to the public. A further 1000 were later struck for sale to collectors. The design features an eight pointed star, representing the states and territories of Australia (seven points) and New Zealand. The colours of the ribbon are blue, representing the ocean, gold, representing Australian Wattle, silver grey, representing New Zealand fern, and red for the colour of Australian gum blossom and the New Zealand Rata flower. This full size accurate replica was presented in the early 1990's to the remaining survivors of the 1915 Gallipoli landing. The Gallipoli Star Medal 1914-1915 was to be awarded to survivors of the Anzac landing but a political dispute of the exclusion of British Soldiers saw the idea withdrawn. A surveyor was employed to measure the land designated as Yangery, County of Villiers, in the Borough of Warrnambool. The area on the map is similar to the earlier Farnham Survey undertaken by William Rutledge in the 1850's. Warrnambool was a Borough between 1863-1883. Coutours, waterways, sea and other significant points are shown. The distances are accurately measured. This survey map was used for planning future land sales, recreation areas and roads. WILLIAM RUTLEDGE (1806-1876) William Rutledge surveyed the land known as Farnham in southwest Victoria in 1843. His tenants made him a profitable business from working the land there. In 1863 Rutledge moved from nearby Port Fairy to Farnham and became very successful in breeding sheep, which he imported from J.R. Kirkham of Lincolnshire, England. He also bred horses on his land. The survey map of Yangery is important for its connection with renowned surveyor William Rutledge. These medicinal products were used in the 1900's. Eucalyptus oil was used both externally for Lumbago, Rheumatism, Sciatica, Sprains, Cuts, Bruises and Burns and for all Throat and Cough disorders. McKean's Camphorated Oil was to be used carefully and under strict Accordance with the instructions. Adults to rub briskly on part affected, Infant use to be massaged gently. McKean's were in operation from 1890's - c1960's. The company appeared to have ceased in 2012. Friars Balsam similarly was used externally for Cuts, Wounds, etc. Could be taken internally for Coughs, Colds, Bronchitis, etc. 10 drops to one teaspoonful. The Bosisto bottle probably contained eucalyptus oil.Four glass medicinal bottles: 1. A small clear glass McKean's "Helping Hand' Eucalyptus Oil bottle, with a faded paper label with Trade Mark surrounding a hand illustration with leaves. Unadulterated is printed at the bottom of this label. Pure Eucalyptus Oil with its uses is included. On the back is a paper label with further instructions for use. The screw top bakelite lid is broken. 2. An angular shaped small brown SIGMA Camphorated Oil bottle with a stained paper label of the manufacturer details and uses. It has 'NOT TO BE TAKEN' stamped into one of the edges on the side of the bottle. Two other sides have three rows of crosses as a pattern. The metal screwtop lid is rusted. F1071 is stamped on the base. 3. A very small round brown Rolfe's Friars Balsam bottle with a broken cork stopper. It has a faded paper label with uses and the manufacturer's details. 4. A small blue tinted clear glass J. Bosisto medicine bottle with rounded corners and flattened sides on the front and back surfaces.The flat lip at he opening could have been sealed with a stopper. The sides of the bottle have a vertical joining line.1. 'McKean's 'Helping Hand' Eucalyptus Oil'. It has a faded paper label with 'Trade Mark (Registered) surrounding a hand illustration with leaves. Set of two ""Supplementary Running Journal", used by Conductors to enable the checking of tickets by Examiners. Was to be filled out prior to the commencement of journey and placed in the clip provided. Has space for date, punch mar, each fare time and Signature and Number. Both have punch marks .1 - Used 11-8-1935, possibly on a cable car, signed at R. Elliott, completed in pencil, car 476. Has part of a depot stamp in the bottom right hand corner. .2 - Form 3/134, Aug 66, used 8-1-69 by conductor No. 1267, ? from Malvern Depot, car 275. Completed in ink. Has the Malvern depot stamp on the rear. T3 - as above - but not so faded, part town in bottom left hand corner. 1384.1 - Ticket, printed on gold card using brown ink titled "Souvenir Ticket Closure of Hawthorn Depot" for the Tramway Museum Society of Victoria's 5th tour to mark the closure as a running shed on 13/14 Feb. 1965. Notes the Official Opening day of 6/4/1916. Tour used tram SW6 850. Series of 15 black and white photographs of the track works to reconstruct tram lines showing various methods and works during the 1960's. .1 - Jackhammers concrete out around wooden sleepers - the rails have been bolted to them. .2 - Excavated track or temporary track next to newly relaid track - Hawthorn Road by Caulfield Park? .3 - Partly completed work - nearest track relaid, second track still has wood blocks? and then a temporary track. .4 - Excavated previously concreted and bolted track. Appears to be new rail. .5 - Compacting a new track bed with work laying track in the background. .6 - Rail being craned into position onto small concrete blocks - Nicholson St North Fitzroy at Church St - the church is now Melbourne City Mission Palliative care centre. 1955/56 - construction of the replacement track.
