Central Highlands Historical Association [CHHA] is a vital link in the regional history network being the umbrella association for over 30 historical societies, museums and family history organisations in the central highlands region of Victoria. CHHA continues to be an active and innovative organisation. It is represented at Local and State levels on matters of joint concern to its members. Aims and Purposes: Formed in 1984 the inaugural CHHA meeting was held on Saturday 23 June 1984, at the Ballarat City Library in Camp Street, Ballarat. A main focus of CHHA is to assist its member societies by developing and maintaining resources and information networks. Caire had a great love for the area in and surrounding Marysville and in the late 1800's took many photographs of Marysville and its surrounds. N.J. Caire was born in 1837 in Guernsey. He arrived in Adelaide about 1860 along with his parents who encouraged his early interest in photography. He opened a studio in Adelaide in 1867 after traveling extensively throughout the Gippsland taking photographs. After marrying in 1870 he moved to Talbot in Victoria until 1876 when he opened a studio in the Royal Arcade in Melbourne. After 1885 N.J. The postcard shows St Vincent's Hospital, on the northern side of Victoria Parade, Fitzroy, circa 1914. At left is the original hospital building, a converted terrace house, alongside the first purpose-built wing opened 1905 and the Cullen Wing (with facilities for medical students and residents) on the right. A group of two men and three boys stands on the footpath outside the Cullen Wing and a car is parked outside the main hospital building in the centre of the photograph.
