This uniform would have been worn by the students of the Ballarat College of Advanced Education, School of Nursing. The colour of the uniform was changed at the request of trained staff in white.This apricot princess style dress with a central front zipper and side pockets has a collar and short sleeves. This dress was typical of those worn on special occasions usually after 5 pm: eg. dinner dances, balls, weddings. There were many such functions at Mt Beauty and the Kiewa Valley eg. the Hospital BallThis dress was worn by Margaret Mc Kendrick (nee Vyner) who lived in Tawonga when growing up. She married Ian McKendrick and they lived in Mt Beauty. She worked as a nurse at the Tawonga and District hospital. They had three children: Linda, Robyn and Boyd. Ian worked at the Mt Beauty Post Office.Metallic brown taffatta cocktail dress with scooped neck front and back. Princess line in one piece with pleated side panels and back from the waist. Bows either side of the A line at front and three bows from the waistline to the bottom of the zip at the back. Capped sleeves. Before 1929 the original Cann River settlement was where Noorinbee now stands.Agricultural shows are an important part of cultural life in small country towns and these shows form an integral part of local history. The Light horse Heritage Troop of the 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles provided mounted escort to the Royal couple, HRH Prince Charles and HRH Princess Diana. In 1985, the portion of Puckapunyal Army Camp housing the Armoured School and Corps Museum underwent a major rebuild. The new facility named Hopkins Barracks was officially opened by HRH . Prince Charles on 31 October 1985. Prince Charles, who was accompanied by his wife HRH Princess Diana, is Colonel in Chief of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps (RAAC). Commemorative Mug (Melkbeker)
In 1898, when Princess Wilhelmina attained her majority, she succeeded her Mother, Queen Emma, who had been Regent for 10 years. Wilhelmina reigned for 50 years until her abdication in favour of her daughter Juliana in 1948.The House of Orange is one of the most popular monarchies in Western democracies. Widespread celebrations accompanied the Abdication/Accession. A souvenir pottery mug handed out to school children in Amsterdam in 1948 to commemorate the abdication of Queen Wilhelmina and the accession to the throne of Queen Juliana. This kind of mug (without a handle) was typically used by children to drink their milk. It is illustrated with the initials of the two Queens surrounded by oranges (for the House of Orange). Blue banners link the bunches of oranges. There is also a depiction of the famous steeple of the Wester Church, the Amsterdam coat of Arms, a ship, a bridge and a typical canal house.Above the W: "Dankbaar voor het verleden" (Grateful for the past) 1898-1948.
