This gilt bronze medal was issued to school children to commemorate the opening of the first Australian Federal Parliament which opened in Melbourne on 9 May, 1901. Each certificate represents 100 shares 7 shillings & sixpence each. Capital raised was 15,750 Pounds from 42,000 shares. Certificates Nos. 55 & 56 issued to A.G.Lee of Bendigo on 6 Aug.1906. Certificates signed by S.H.McGowan, Legal Manager, Bendigo. Also included is a SOLA (Bill) of Exchange, dated Mar.1907, on the Commercial Bank of Australia for Four Pounds sixteen shillings and eight pence, payable to Mr.A.Nallauche (??) and signed by Allsop. Demonstrates aspects of the SEC tramway governance system in requiring sales of tickets to be monitored - balancing cash received against tickets issue, sold and returned. Issued to crews and then checked by clerks. The last Revenue Journal printed - fares as the system closed in 9/1971 in Ballarat.Printed form titled "Revenue Journal", for recording the value of tickets sold by Conductors. Headed - "Provincial Tramways". Has value of tickets up to 18c, parcel tickets of 13c. Gives the opening and closing number of tickets or checks issued to the conductor, check returned by conductor, total number issued, value, returned by conductor, cash returned, decimal currency, space for hospital vouchers and area where signed by conductor. Printed on off white paper. Has form number 554-200. Two copies held. Additional 7 copies added 8/1/2007. Significant in being a detailed set of instructions for parking trams, hand overs, relief, responsibility for the security of the tram, including leaving the tram unattended. Regrettable incidents have happened. Issued 1965. Follows on from Reg item 261 an earlier version, but with less detailed instructions and no explanation.Two foolscap duplicated sheets titled "Special Order to Motormen (49/1)" giving instructions regarding 1) Responsibility (for trams), 2) Relief on the road, 3) Controller key, 4) Air brake handle, 5) leaving tram unattended with definition, general precautions, special precautions - such as parking the tram at Lydiard St North, parking trams at City Loop and 6) an explanation on the braking system at either end of the tram. Dated 25 January 1961. Printed from wax stencil and stapled along the top edge. Signed by F. K. White Manager.
