Yields information about the way the signing of the agreement between the City of Ballarat and the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society and the parties involved.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, 25/11/1971, titled "Agreement signed for Tourist Tram Depot" of the signing of the agreement between the City of Ballaarat and the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society the previous day. Included in the photo are the Mayor, Cr. J.A. Chisholm, city solicitor - Hugh Morrow, President of the BTPS Hal Cain, Frank Hanrahan and Secretary Richard Gilbert. 990.1 -Typed letter from Chairman of M&MTB (Robert (Bob) Risson to Mr. John Grimwade dated 18 April 1963, concerning an letter in the Age written by J. Grimwade about Trams and Motor Cars. Written on M&MTB letterhead, with "Dear John" and author's signature "Bob Risson" handwritten in. Has been folded into four for posting. On quarto size paper, with watermark "Loganvale / Parchment / Made in Britain". Gives M&MTB phone numbers, postal and street address and telegraphic address on letterhead. 990.2 - Typed letter from Chairman of M&MTB (Robert (Bob) Risson to Mr. John Grimwade dated 29 April 1965, concerning tramcar design and deputy chairman (Mr. Kirby) forthcoming overseas trip. Written on M&MTB letterhead, with "Dear John" and author's signature "Bob" handwritten in. Has been folded into six for posting. On quarto size paper, with a watermark "? / RAG ? / Made in Australia". Gives M&MTB phone numbers, postal and street address and telegraphic address on letterhead, different design to 990.1, including phone number. Above the "Dear John" an imprint from of another sheet of paper, has been imposed on the sheet - grease mark? about 15 in diameter. 990.3 - Copy of interoffice memo from Deputy Chairman (Mr. Kirby) on yellow paper, dated 27 April 1965, replying to Chairmans memo of 26 April 1965, about the design of new trams, with steps inside the doorways. Signed by Mr. Kirby. Has been folded for mailing. Has left hand edge partly folded in. 990.4 - Copy of interoffice memo from Chairman (R. Risson) to Deputy Chairman, about a suggestion by Mr. Grimwade about running boards and the width of trams. Notes Chairman's view that the policy of running boards was deliberate in order that cars collided with them first rather than the tram body. On blue paper. Signed by the Chairman. Newspaper clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, Saturday 18/9/1971 about the details of the last trams to run in Ballarat, and that only tramway employees will be allowed to ride back to the depot from Sturt St. Notes that the Mayors of Ballarat and Sebastopol will drive the trams for part of their runs in the municipalities. Quotes tramway superintendent Mr. L. J. Denmead. Gives times the last trams were time to leave the Lydiard St North terminals, that 40 is to be the last tram, that it was to be driven by Mr. L. Walker with Mr. H. Knight as conductor. Ballarat Mayor, Cr. Chisholm was to receive the last tram at the depot. At base of item, notes that The Courier is to provide a 12 page supplement on the history of the Ballarat trams and photos. "Orders for this supplement have been particularly heavy". 1297 - Booklet with red heavy card cover and 24 pages inside and a four page supplement glued into rear cover giving details of the by-laws operating for the SEC tramways in Ballarat and Bendigo. Gives details of the definitions, fares and charges, sale of tickets, regulating number of passengers, stopping places, nuisances, smoking, dangerous goods, luggage and goods, general matters and fares broken into adult fares for each section and Children's fares and Pensioners' Concession fares for both Ballarat and Bendigo. Note - introduced decimal currency into the fares as well as pence. Document number on front cover "TYE 1-270". This by-law replaced or revoked all previous by-laws and amendments. Came in effect 1/10/1965 with a fare rise. Received Governor In Council approval on 24/8/1965. These fares have been amended in pencil for Ballarat. The amendment pasted into the rear of the booklet is dated 2nd August. 1966 and came into effect on 1/9/1966. 1297.1 - ditto, but actual used copy by D. J. Everett - see Reg. Item 2292 for details of SEC Ballarat Employee. On page one or title sheet, has an additional amendment pasted in - dated 14/1/1969 giving details of fare increases in Ballarat and Bendigo to come into effect 14/1/1969. Single sheet printed both side. See also Reg items 66 and 281 for this sheet of paper by itself. Item added 2/3/2003. 1297.2 - booklet as above for 1297, but without supplements - in as printed condition 8/1965. 1297.3 - as for 1297 with 1966 and two number 1969 supplements pasted into the book. One 1969 supplement at the front and additional at the rear. 1966 supplement pasted into the rear of the book. Has BTPS Catalogue Numbers 207, 208 and 209 written onto the front of the booklet. Four other copies - unnumbered held. Additional items added 10/7/2005. Additional copy of 1297.3 added 6/8/2016 from donation of T. Yields information about Ballarat No. 30, in the 1950's - SEC Official photograph.1708 - Black and white photograph of a Ballarat Sebastopol type tramcar when built new in 1913. Photo used in Keith Kings book, "The Ballarat Tramways" on page 28. Understood to be an ESCo photograph. Tram has "Suttons for Gramophones" roof advertisement, words "Ballarat Tramways" on the top rail above windows and "Coliseum Photoplays"in central window. Two of the four side blinds are in the down position, probably done to show their presence. Tram has a "bulls-eye" type destination indicator. Photographed outside the depot with Lake Wendouree in the background. Photograph is a photo of another print, with the words? "Original Rolling Stock" underneath the original print and the black ink "12" in the bottom left hand corner on the newer print. 1708.1 - as above, but without the "12" written on the photograph. The words "Ballarat Rolling Stock 2 Man Brush Type Car 1918". - added 18/11/2001. 1708.2 - as above, but with more of the label cut off. 1708.3 - Electronic copy of same photograph donated by Ron Hann on a CD of photographs given to him at the time of his visit in January 1963 by the Manager. Black and white photograph of a Bendigo Single Truck straight sill tramcar (were numbers 1 to 12) prior to fitting windscreens (Destination Eaglehawk page 30 - says this occurred in 1920). Tram has "Dewar's imperial whisky" roof advertisement, "Bendigo Tramways" on the letterboard, on the front dash, advertisements for "O-T+ drink additive on either side of the headlight and "Silverline Soap" on the panel either side of the bumper bar.
