The Australian Home Beautiful article on the Heidelberg and Eastern Golf Club indicates that its clubhouse comprised two buildings, "Bryn Teg" built by Mrs Thomas, one approximately 1849, the other 40 years later. The club moved into these buildings about 1928. The stables were converted for use in 1921 by Frederick Henry Gilsenan as the Lower Plenty State School No. 1295 which was open from 20/06/1921 to 11/04/1925. Mr. Gilsenan married Margaret Mar Cornall in 1923. They lived in Heidelberg, had a daughter, Verna in 1924. Mr Gilsenan was transferred to Mt Moriac SS No. 1608 in 1925. This letter was sent to State Schools informing them of the Senior Lecture Classes for State School Pupils. These classes were to be held on Wednesday afternoons from 3.30 to 4.30. The first day would be Wednesday 25th April 1888. Subject was Elementary Physics. The first building which housed Sunbury State School No.1002 was built on the corner of Macedon and Stawell Streets in the early 1870s and functioned as the local State School until 1912 when a sturdier red brick structure replaced on the same site. In 1999 Sunbury State School was relocated in the former Industrial School heritage buildings in Jacksons Hill. The existing building in Macedon Street was incorporated into the Sunbury Community Health Centre. The school in the photograph is the original Sunbury State School NO. 1002 building, where many early Sunbury residents attended. The children and adults were at a working bee at Bulla Primary School and this group were concentrating on repairing some of the school's playground equipment.
