Pedro J. Lemos was an educator and artist. He was also the editor of the School of Arts Magazine and Director of Stanford University Museum of Fine Arts. He was born in 1882 and died in 1954. The 20th Light Horse (Victorian Mounted Rifles) was raised in 1920 as part of the 3rd Cavalry Brigade, 2nd Cavalry Division, Citizen Military Forces, with Headquarters at Seymour and depots along the Goulburn Valley from Mansfield to Tocumwal in southern NSW. In December 1941, 20th Light Horse (Victorian Mounted Rifles) converted from horse to mechanised, initially as 20th Motor Regiment. In 1943 the Regiment was deployed to Merauke, Dutch New Guinea. Upon its return in April 1945, the Regiment was redesignated 20th Pioneer Battalion. From the 30th to the 1st day of Tet (Lunar New Year), the VC have shamelessly violated the truce that they themselves proposed. The have attacked a number of town in Central Vietnam and in the Highlands. On the nights of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of Tet, they have taken advantage to infiltrate into the capital, Saigon - and into Gia Dinh and Cho Lon. They have also attacked in the provinces of the 3rd and the 4th Tactical Zones to destroy infrastructure and public utilities. However, thanks to the rapid reaction of the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces, they have been completely and humiliatingly defeated.
