Booklet, The Warrnambool Woollen Mill, 1888/9
These documents concern a legal case involving the Town Of Warrnambool, Elizabeth Granter and James Harris. The lawyer in the case was William Ardlie. The son of John and Mary Ardlie, pioneer settlers in Warrnambool, William Ardlie was a prominent lawyer in Warrnambool from the late 1860s to the early 1930s and was active in community affairs. Elizabeth Granter, involved in the financial side of the legal case, was the wife of James Granter, another prominent Warrnambool identity of the 19th century. Granter was a quarryman and a road contractor and he and other members of his family seem to have been involved in other legal battles with James Harris, an employee of the Warrnambool Tramway, also involved in the financial aspects of the legal case. These three documents are of minor interest as an example of the legal cases undertaken by the well-known Warrnambool lawyer, William Ardlie. These are three 1888/1889 documents related to the legal practice of William Ardlie. Item One is a document listing the details of a court case involving Elizabeth Granter, James Harris and the Town Council of Warrnambool and is a sheet of paper with the details of the case written on both sides of the paper in black ink. The back page has a green stamp to the value of one penny. Item Two is a letter from Charles Hider, the bookseller, in regard to an item received by H.A.C. Macdonald, the Town Clerk of the Town of Warrnambool. The handwriting is in black ink. Item Three is a letter from the Warrnambool Tramway Department to Mr Ardlie regarding the request of James Harris for a small sum of money. This letter is a sheet of paper folded in two and written in black ink on one of the four sides. The first page has the stamp of the Town of Warrnambool.james harris, history of warrnambool, elizabeth granter, william ardlie, town of warrnambool -

Photograph, Daniel Robertson Australia Pty Ltd, 2014
Englishman John Robertson was a roofing contractor and importer of slate. He founded the Daniel Robertson company in 1835 after arriving in Australia on a ship that carried a large quantity of slate as ballast. This slate was soon seen on the roofs of important Melbourne buildings. In 1910 the company began producing concrete roof tiles in South Melbourne, and in 1928 they converted the Tunstall Brickworks to produce terracotta tiles. In 1967 Daniel Robertson's produced a unique rustic range of bricks that were such a success that the roof tiles were phased out in 1969. In 2013 Daniel Robertson Australia Pty Ltd closed. These 2014 photographs show the buildings and some products still on the site at the time.13 coloured photographs of the office, storage and kiln areas at the Daniel Robertson site in 2014. Photograph of Lake Guy Dam, Spillway, Lake Guy Dam, c1945
In December 1939 the excavation of the diversion tunnel at the site of Junction (Lake Guy) Dam was commenced and finished in February, 1940.This allowed the stream to be diverted to facilitate the dam wall construction. This is a 'slab and buttress' dam. It is framed with timber and concrete then poured into the structure. A contract was let to Lewis Construction Co. for the construction of the dam, and the first batch of concrete was placed in September, 1940. Industrial trouble caused some delays but there was also slow progress on the part of the contractor and the work was taken over by the S.E.C., terminating the contract. The dam was completed in March, 1944. The lake is named after Mr. L.T. Guy who was the Resident Engineer, in charge of construction work and associated activities on the Kiewa area, from 1939 until November 1946. An historical pictorial record taken for the State Electricity Commission of Junction Dam (Lake Guy) on spill. Mt. Arthur is in the background and there is still evidence of the destruction of trees from the 1939 bushfires. Black and white photograph of Lake Guy Dam . The dam is spilling and Mt.
