Identification disc issued to POW's at Australian internment camps during WW2.Round bakelite (brown) disc with hole at top centre. One side plain. Melville Roy (son of Victor Roy) - served during WW2 and was a POW in Changi. Headwear - HELMET, STEEL - BRITISH PATTERN, c. WW2
British pattern steel army helmet as used in both WW1 and WW2. This example dates from the WW2 era.British pattern steel helmet, dark olive in colour. Outside of the helmet is covered in dark olive green mesh which is secured with olive green cotton cord. A bolt head is prominent on the crown of the helmet and corresponds to a nut and thread on the inside. This nut and bolt secures a black rubber pad. A sweat band in black synthetic material is secured to the inside rim of the helmet. An adjustable webbing chin strap with brass buckle is attached with clips to each side.Niluniform - army, costume - male, protective headgear -

1. Locket likely belonged to family of soldier pictured. 2. Locket includes Rising Sun Emblem. Most likely WW2. Refer 6722 - F. Scott 5AI No. 2446.1. Small gold locket, round with hole at top for cvhain. One side hollow with picture of an Australian soldier in uniform inserted inside. Convex side has little stones(?) circular engraved in. 2. The name "HOLLOWAY' regarding RAAF - only one possible name for WW2.Jacket - dark blue colour wool serge fabric. This jacket has been adapted from a RAAF Service dress jacket to resemble a RAAF Battle Dress Jacket. possibly made in the Norther Territory or on the Islands WW2. Collar, shoulder epaulettes, long sleeves with cuffs and buttons, two front patch pockets with concealed button flaps. Waistband with belt strap and metal slide buckle to fasten jacket. Black colour Bakelite buttons front and cuffs. Mid blue colour cotton lining to pockets and waistband. White colour cotton manufacturers label.Manufacturers information - black ink print.
