Local newspaper clipping - 15/3/1945 - Passing of Old Pioneer.Born in Gloucestershire, England ... Settled in Ringwood and was employed at the old Federal Brickyards. It was here that he lost his arm, getting his hand caught in machinery. This handicap did not greatly interfere with his working capacity, and for years he was employed as carter at Bamford's timber yards. He married and settled down at Mt Dandenong Road, Ringwood East and acquired various properties. Interred Box Hill Cemetery on Friday, 9th March. -

Newspaper, Cutting from The Mail 25-3-1987 - death of Mr. Kevin Pratt a well known Ringwood resident
Kevin Pratt was one of Ringwood's best known residents when he died at the age of 77 in 1987. An amputee from the age of three he overcame his own physical handicaps and went on to encourage and help the youth of the district. He was President of the Ringwood Football Club for 25 years. His memory is perpetuated by a pavillion in Mullum Reserve which bears his name. Mr Pratt's Funeral service in Our Ladies Church in Bedford Road was well attended. Faded Bendigo Advertiser newspaper article dated 5.2.1988 re: Star of David which was saved by Gordon Glover's father from a pile of rubbish from the wrecking of the old Bendigo Synagogue in 1927. The article says that Harry Fogel and Alan Buchanek were trying to research the history of how the Jews in the area maintained the Jewish lifestyle and came in contact with the Glover family. Gordon Glover knew more about the history of the Synagogue and the stories of Jews in Bendigo 'than any Jew we could find 'said Harry Fogel. The Cape of Good Hope Store was the first unofficial Synagogue run by a Mr Helbrun. John Deason born 1829 on island of Tresco in the Scilly Isles. 1841 worked in Cornish tin mine. 1851 married Meg Davis, along with Richard Oates travelled to Bendigo Goldfields. By 1858 Meg and the four children were dead. John married Catherine McAndrew 28 October 1858. Left the Bendigo Goldfields for Bulldog Gully Moliagul. Discovered the Welcome Stranger nugget 5 February 1869. Newspaper article from The Bendigo Monthly October 2020 Page 25, Includes copies of photographs and other newspaper articles within the story. Album of press clippings the relate to Melbourne Legacy in 1977. The items were cut from the newspaper and pasted into a scrapbook with brown pages. For many years Legacy kept scrapbooks of press clippings that related to their work and publicity. Includes Junior legatee outings such as operation float, and looking after widows in operation firewood. Guest speakers at Legacy house included Mr Ian Johnson, Mr Hamer MP, Professor Sir Lance Townsend. An article about Carry On. Ivanhoe Grammar boys paint a house for a Legacy widow, Mrs Drowley. Photos of Junior Legatees Heather Stone and ClareSmart getting free dental check up from Dr H G Thomson at the Legacy Dental Clinic. Senior Constable Reg Mahoney, a former Junior Legatee, and 7 year old Matthew Partridge, prepare for badge day in Sydney. Also the Governor of Victoria opening Legacy Week at Legacy House. The annual demonstration featured JLs acting in My Fair Lady. Constable Bill Duell a former Junior Legatee, now a Legatee after serving in Vietnam.
