Melbourne Legacy, Junior Legatees conducted Annual Demonstrations/Parades from 1928 through to the late 1970's, usually at the Melbourne Town Hall. These photos are at the Olympic Swimming Stadium, which was used in 1959 to 1962. Throughout the year Melbourne Legacy provided classes for Junior Legatees such as dancing, gymnastics and eurythmics, the Demonstration was an annual event to showcase their skills. Melbourne Legacy conducted Annual Demonstrations / Parades from 1928 through to 1979. The beautiful costumes were made by members of the Junior Legacy Mothers' Club and the Melbourne Legacy Wives' Association. These photos of the Bogong High Plains were all taken by Ronald George Thorn who was a cadet engineer with the State Electricity Commission. He worked on the Kiewa scheme from 1948 to 1950 doing overhead line construction and maintenance plus electrical design and drawing work. Photograph is of Sir John Bowser as a young man, probably shortly after he settled in Wangaratta about 1880. In 1884 he became editor and part-owner of the Wangaratta Chronicle. In 20 November 1894 he won the Wangaratta and Rutherglen seat in the Legislative Assembly by only thirteen votes. He remained in the Victorian Parliament for many years and in November 1917 he became premier, chief secretary and minister of labour. Taken from St Paul's Cathedral steps. Has a small part of the Princes Bridge Station building on the left hand side. The Swanston St canopy of Flinders St station has the words "Cross Crossings Cautiously". A W class tram is northbound while an S or T class tram is southbound while another single trucker is west bound to Spencer St in Flinders St. The trams in the photo were used prior to 1944. All W class trams were converted to W2 class prior to 1944 and the single trucker westbound had been scrapped by then. A Legacy ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance. One of the annual "Anzac Commemoration Ceremony for Students" events, usually held just prior to ANZAC Day. The ceremony provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain an appreciation of the Anzac spirit, the significance of the Shrine and the meaning of Anzac Day. This is a close up photo of the son of soldier wearing his fathers medals, at the service in 1945 (see also 01193). It is the son of Lieut.
