Khaki Drill material in generally very good condition. The jacket is unlined. Pockets on right and left breasts have curved flaps fastened by a single central button. Lower left and right pockets have large 'straight' flaps fastened with a single button. All pockets are sewn onto the outside of the jacket. Loose ends from stitching on button holes and pockets indicates little use. Some staining on collar and spots on the outside of the jacket may be from storage. Belt is missing its buckle which would have been a separate interchangeable item.

This RAAF uniform is believed to have belonged to Flying Officer Russell Miller, the son of William and Muriel Miller of Warrnambool. Russell Miller attended Warrnambool High School and worked for the Warrnambool City Council before enlisting in World War 11. He was killed in flying operations over Germany in 1944. Died 28 Sept 1944. Remembered at Rheinburg War Cemetery, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. About 16,000 Australians served in the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces, including 130 from the Australian General Hospital with whom Sister Danson presumably served. Sister Danson was born in Numurkah and served as Leiutentant with the Heidelberg Military Hospital before embarking for Japan in 1947.This coat is part of a complete uniform set held by the Shepparton RSL. The uniform has representative and historic significance as an example of the style of uniform worn by nursing staff of the Australian General Hospital during the 1940s and into the 1950s. This is a complete uniform of the Warrnambool Urban Fire Brigade in the mid 20th century. The Warrnambool Fire Brigade, located today in Mortlake Road, Warrnambool, was established in 1863. The formation was prompted by a fire at the Flying Buck Hotel in Liebig Street. The Warrnambool Fire Brigade has a long proud history of service to the people of Warrnambool and district for over 150 years. The uniform belonged to John (Jack) Sizeland, a firefighter for over 37 years. He retired in 1977. This uniform is of some significance as it shows the type of uniform worn by Warrnambool firefighters in the mid 20th century. It is also of importance because it belonged to a local firefighter, Jack Sizeland. This is a Warrnambool Fire Brigade uniform consisting of:- .1 A black cloth single-breasted jacket lined with black and white material. It has four silver metal buttons down the front and two on the top pocket lapels. The buttons have the inscription ‘Country Fire Authority Victoria’. This Guide uniform was worn by Jane Reid when she was a Guide at 6th St Hilary's between 1987 and 1989. The uniform consists of a pale blue blouse, junior navy A-line skirt and navy wool beret with the World Guide badge embroidered on it. The scarf with the Victorian State Badge at the back is a triangle and can be used as a sling or bandage in an emergency. Jane's woggle (a band holding the tie) was made by hand. Some girls made woggles from leather, cord or items from nature such as gumnuts. The leather belt with the Girl Guide buckle bears a metal badge obtained at Britannia Park, the Victorian Guide camping ground at Yarra Junction. Her white lanyard (indicating she was a Patrol Leader) and brown leather pouch are attached to the belt. Metal badges pinned to the collar of the blouse are the World Guide badge on the right and the Guide Trefoil or Promise badge on the left. The image on the 'S' resembles two heads of a long-necked bird such as a swan, with two leaf images in the centre. ABOUT THE SCHOMBERG (October 6 to December 27, 1855)- When the ship Schomberg was launched in 1855, she was considered the most perfect clipper ship ever to be built. James Baine’s Black Ball Line had commissioned her for their fleet of passenger liners. The Aberdeen builders designed her to sail faster than the clippers designed the three-masted wooden clipper ship to be fast. The timber used for the diagonal planking was British oak with layers of Scottish larch. This luxury emigrant vessel was designed for superior comfort. She had ventilation ducts to provide air to the lower decks and a dining saloon, smoking room, library and bathrooms for the first-class passengers. The master for Schomberg’s maiden voyage was Captain ‘Bully’ Forbes. He drunkenly predicted at her launch that he would make the journey between Liverpool and Melbourne in 60 days. Schomberg departed Liverpool on 6 October 1855 with 430 passengers and 3000 tons of cargo including iron rails and equipment intended the build the Geelong Railway and a bridge over the Yarra from Melbourne to Hawthorn. The poor winds slowed Schomberg’s sail across the equator. She was 78 days out of Liverpool when she ran aground on a sand spit near Peterborough, Victoria, on 27 December; the sand spit and currents were not marked on Forbes’s map. The ship’s Chief Officer spotted the coastal steamer SS Queen at dawn and sent a signal. The master of the SS Queen approached the stranded vessel and all of Schomberg’s passengers safely disembarked. In 1975, 120 years after the Schomberg was wrecked, divers from Flagstaff Hill found an ornate communion set at the wreck site along with many other artefacts. In 1978 a diamond ring was discovered under the concretion in the lid of the communion set, which is currently on display. Former Director of Flagstaff Hill, Peter Ronald, had salvaged most of the artefacts from the wreck. The Jacket belonged to Dennis James Powell, enlisted on 7.5.1941 No VX55199. Was a POW, discharged on 21.12.1945 in 2/29th Bn. Served Korea in the 3rd Bn No 32729 from 27.5.1951 - 14.8.1951, 24.9.51 - 22.4.1952. The service ribbons on the jacket are; 1939 - 45 Star Pacific Star British War Medal Australian Service Medal Korea Medal Un Medal Korea. The pants have posssibly been used to make up a uniform. 1. This is a black woollen jacket. It has 4 front pockets. It has Sgt's stripes on arm (Gold). It has RA Inf buttons. On the collars are another pattern RA Inf button - Kings Crown. Clothing, khaki woollen WW2 army uniform jacket. Single breasted with four brown metal AMF buttons (2 cm). Two breast pockets, (16 X 18 cm) with fold over tabs. All button tabs fastened with 1.5 cm metal buttons. Long sleeves with stitched down cuffs with V shaped peak on upper side. Both sleeves lined with cream and blue striped cotton fabric. 30 cm split at centre back from hem. Button down epaulettes on each shoulder with three captain's pips and two black stripes. Cloth badges on top of each sleeve. 1. Navy and red unit colour, (3 cm X 2.5 cm). 2. Light green, brown and blue colour (5 X 5 cm) (unknown). 2.5 X 2.5 cm square metal badges on each corner at front of collar. 5.5 cm wide cloth belt with metal buckle. This jacket belonged to Dorothy May Mortlock (VF518245) who was part of the Australian Womens Army Service (AWAS). Dorothy Mortlock was born in Swan Hill and enlisted with the 3rd AUST AWS REC DEPOT.Khaki-coloured woollen jacket which fastens along the centre via four metal buttons. Two hip-height pockets with external flap; two chest pockets with pleat in centre fastened via a metal button. Fabric belt around waist held in place by two fabric loops on back and fastened through metal buckle and loop. Collar carries two metal rising sun badges on the left and right side. Two epaulettes on either shoulder are held in place by a button and carries a badge reading "AWAS". Colour patch on both left and right side is square, half green and half black. In about 1888 William George Ashman (1871-11/2/1944) began a tailoring business in High Street, Eaglehawk. In 1890 he admitted his brother Arthur Thomas Ashman to the business and they traded as Ashman Brothers. In 1936 the company of Ashman and sons was registered at 265 Hargreaves Street. They specialised in made to measure, hand tailored suits. William married Clara Hunkin (1871-25/11/1944) in 1894. Their sons, John, Eric, Basil and Charles followed into the family business.Woolen fabric trousers, part of Dress Suit. A decorative strip runs down each leg. The waistband can be adjusted on either side by belt/buckle attachments. Trousers fasten with two buttons and there are four buttons at the fly opening at front. There are two deep lined pockets either side and one top pocket at rear on LHS. There is a maker's label stitched to the lining of the Rear pocket which reads "Ashmans, Hargreaves Street, Bendigo 'The Home of Better Suits'".
