Set of two Newspaper clippings pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side. Clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, 19/8/1971; two letters to the Editor, about the closure of the Ballarat tramways, that some of the trams and line should be saved and what the aims of the BTPS are. The first from a person titled "All Het Up", and the second from John Anderson of P.O. Box 145 Box Hill. The second clipping from The Sun, Melbourne dated 14/7/1971 written by Keith Dunstan in his column, "A Place in the Sun" about the forthcoming closure of the Ballarat and Bendigo systems. Has a photo of a Bendigo Birney tram and notes their rarity. The second part is about the formation of the BTPS, which has 100 paid up members and quotes Shane McCarthy, a committeeman. Police and other officials will prevent stripping by souvenir hunters. Herald Sun ...Demonstrates how advertising was done within W class tramcars - boxes of the driver's door and yields information about the Herald Newspaper.Poster advertising the Herald (Melbourne evening newspaper) newspaper. Thought to date from the late 1960's possibly when the trams were withdrawn. .1 - "Take The Herald on holiday. Keep in touch while you're out of touch." - featuring a lady reading the newspaper with the heading "Gas Rig Looks like its dying" while on the beach while a child plays nearby. Two copies held. .2 - "On The Herald has Jack Elliot" with a line sketch of Jack and horse races along the bottom. Were located in the end advertising panels over the doors of W3 661 and used a base for historical photographs of 661 in Melbourne (See Reg Item 4692 and 4693) until replaced during 2009, when collected.trams, tramways, advertisements, posters, w class trams -

Photo of No. Geelong No. 23 was decorated for the Centenary of Geelong in 1938, photographed in Corio Terrace, decorated with festooned lighting and other "baubles" and items. On the sides, the letters "1838.1938". Tram has the destination of West, with a driver in the front cabin. Shows the lighting on the tram in detail and able to see the waxed flowers and other greenery. Photo by E. Bonney of 11 Shannon Ave Newtown Geelong, representing the "Sun News Pictorial" and "Melbourne Herald". Would indicate a "launch" of the tramcar.
