Book, titled "101 and 1 ways to Save Money with Portable Compressors", published by Ingersoll-Rand Co. London, 120 page book, within yellow covers, centre stapled. Published 1929. On front cover has an colour picture of a large work scene with a the construction of a suspension bridge in the background. Details equipment that is available and the possible uses it could be put to, with numerous photos. Has a list of equipment, index and on last page a list of officers and directors. Has been stamped on the top left hand corner with the ESCo Company stamp but overwritten in ink with a BTPS catalogue number and information. Each copy consists of a chapter, one page titled "Early History", five pages titled "Part 1 - Horse Trams - Ballarat 1887 - 1905, Sebastopol 1893 - 1912, Ballarat East Nil" Notes on the construction of the tramway, opening, personalities, Julien Battery tram, and half a page titled "Bits of Interest". The 3rd chapter, 3 pages, titled "Part 2 - Electric Trams - Ballarat 1905, Ballarat East, Sebastopol 1912". Notes the early power supply history in Ballarat, opening of the electric routes, (conversion of horse trams to electric), and the purchase of new trams ex Melbourne 1930. Chapter ends with 3 short paragraphs notes on the SEC taking over, Conductresses during the war and reconstruction. Author - unknown - possibly the SEC, Les Denmead and others - notes the scrubber car still in service in 1969? See also item 106 and 6419 for similar documents.Yields detailed information about the history of Ballarat's tramways.Three copies of a typed manuscript titled "Ballarat Tramways" - 18 foolscap pages. Side stapled and then bound with a green tape on left hand side. Gives details of the standards of the materials, rolling, payment, conformity, testing, marking holes for both rails and fishplates. Drawings for 13 different weight rails, straight and curves, 90lb/yard to 116 and a drawing of the BS tyre profile for tram car wheels and how it interfaces with a rail. 3293.1 - Grey folder, with a two prong clip, marked ""Rosters both sides, containing a set of 29 sheets, typed on foolscap paper, giving the Weekdays, Saturday and Sunday tables or runs for the SEC Ballarat trams on the SEC Ballarat Tramway system until the period before closure. Gives details of 38 tables or runs, numbered from 1 Run to 38 Run. Each sheet headed "Weekday", three runs per sheet. Saturdays - 1 to 34, Sunday - 1 to 10. Each sheet has in the top right hand corner LJD/3/70. Time table operated until the commencement of closure of the system. All sheets imaged and are: Monday to Friday Runs 1- 3 4-6 7-9 10-12 13-15 16-18 19-21 22-24 25-28 29-30 31-33 34-36 37 and 38 Saturday Runs 1- 3 4-6 7-9 10-12 13-15 16-18 19-21 22-24 25-28 29-30 31-33 34 Sunday Runs 1- 3 4-6 7-9 10 Each run details where the driver/conductor would sign on, time, the trips, meal breaks, finish time and the total time of the shift.
