Built By Adelaide firm, Duncan & Fraser in 1916. Tram number 2, first operated in Melbourne as Hawthorn Tramways Trust number 20. She was transported to Geelong Tramways Trust in 1947 and changed to Number 34. The water tank stands on Sunbury Railway station and was in use when steam trains were used along Bendigo line. After travelling 37 kms (25 miles) from Melbourne, it was necessary for the trains to replenish their water supply at Sunbury. The presence of the water tank at Sunbury Station is an indicator that it was one of the major stations along the Bendigo line. A coloured photograph of a rectangular water tower. The coach was at the school for the Colonial Day celebrations which has been included as part of the students' history studies. Coaches are relevant to the district's history as they regularly plied between Melbourne via Bulla on their way to the Bendigo Gold Fields before the advent of rail transport.A coloured photograph of a Cobb and Co. The photograph has recorded rail smash which occurred at Sunbury on 17th April 1919 when a stock train crashed into a goods train. It caused a lot of damage to the rolling stock and blocked rail traffic on the Bendigo and Maryborough lines. The stone bridge is one of the many bridges built along the Bendigo Rail Line. This one along with four others ar in Sunbury which were built in the late 1850s. his bridge spans the Ruoertswood Viaduct which is north of the Sunbury Station. The building in the LH corner was a pump house where water was pumped and taken to the water tower on Sunbury Station where the steam trains stopped to replenish the water tanks. The Bendigo Rail Line was the first Government owned and operated to be constructed in Victoria. Along the railway a number of famous bridges and tunnels were built and are of historical significance. The bridge spanning the Rupertswood Viaduct is one of them. The huts along the railway line were built to house 'navvies' who worked on and maintained the Bendigo-Echuca railway line. At the time this photo was taken, work was being undertaken on the railway line in the Sunbury area.The Bendigo-Echuca was one of Victoria's earliest government owned and operated regional rail systems.
