The card enabled a person to attend the 'Popular Science Lectures' which were held in the lecture hall of the school. These were the Winter course of 1882. The Lectures were from 8p.m. They ran from June 9 through to October 11. The subjects were varied and a guest speaker was responsible for each session. To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the School of Mines and Industries an Open Night was held on Thursday, October 25 (1945) from 7 to 9.15 p.m. The Principal was Mr A Heseltine and the Registrar was Mr F Ferguson. Members of the School Council included E J Tippett, M G Beanland who have a building or walkway named after them. A map of the buildings shows the various areas and information is given for each department. This perpetual cup was awarded to the winners of the Raft Race held each year on the Hazelwood Pondage, Gippsland. It was an activity held by the students of the Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education, 1975 through to 1986. Printed obituary with black and white photo of Edward Clarence Dyason. He was born in Bendigo in 1886, the son of Isaac Dyason who was the financial and property manager for George Lansell. After World Was 2, he settled in England. He represented Australia at the British Commonwealth Relations Conference in Canada, on the way back to England he died at sea on 3 October 1949.
