Skirt tightly gathered into casing at waist. Skirt has inverted V shaped insert at centre front from waist to hem. Overlay on each side with decorative stitching. Item is trimmed with two rows of 1.5cm lace. Double layer cap sleeves of broiderie lace with scalloped edges.Centre back opening (33cm) fastened with cotton tape ties at neckline and waist. Two items of newborn clothing dating to 1944. The first item is a dress and the second is a singlet. Both items are made from wool and are in new, unused condition. The clothing was owned by Mrs L. Brawdrup and was donated to the National Wool Museum in 2022 by Lila Gore.Clothing item one is a cream woven dress. It is finished at the sleeves, neck, and hem with a white lace trim. The trim is formed from a thread that has a metallic gleam, presumably cotton. The dress is styled under the neck with a stitched patterned of frills and flowers in the same white metallic thread. The dress gathers under the armpits, similar in style to a dirndl. At the rear, the dress is loosened and fastened by 3 press stud buttons in an opening at the centre. Clothing item two is a cream woven singlet. It is finished at the sleeves, neck, and hem with a white lace trim. The trim is formed from a thread that has a metallic gleam, presumably cotton. Donated by grand daughter of Edith and Ron Palmer. Bride Ellen Lidgerwood married Ron Mathers on 4 September 1937.The Best Man was the brother of the Groom, George Mathers. The bridesmaid was the sister of the groom, Miss Mathers and the flower girl was the niece of the bride, June Lidgerwood. Slim at lower arm to a point over the hand and fastened at seam with press stud. Bodice cut on the cross under the bust. Cut on the cross figure fitting skirt to the floor, complete with long train. On the back is a slit opening fastened with hook and eye and glass clear buttons. Below the slit are eight glass buttons with false rouleau button loops. Issued to crews and then checked by clerks. Shows the total revenue and passengers and how the passengers were counted. Demonstrates the system used to compile revenue returns and passenger numbers.Set of 34 completed "Revenue Journals", for recording the value of tickets sold by Conductors. Compiled for the 11/3/1971, "D" tin. Shows how the forms were completed and who was on duty that day. Have been signed by each conductor. Numbers of checks issued varies from 6 to 499. A vintage gold square lidded Statesman Lancers 10 tobacco tin with the name printed in black lettering with black and red stripes above and below the name in a triangular shape. There is an ornate 10 pointed star with a white crest in a red circle stamped below the stripes. The word Press with a pointed triangle is written in red on the bottom right of lid for opening. On the back are specifications for the cigars and L35 stamped as well as a brown picture of a cigar on the left. Inside the lid is Lancers "None so Mild" written in black. There is a cream coloured folded piece of paper on which the cigars would have sat. On the left and right sides is written - Statesman Lancers in red print.Statesman Lancers 10 and the word Press is printed on the front of the lid. Inside is written, Lancers "None so Mild". Illustration of Driver John (Jack) O'Callaghan and a conductor at a terminus or short working with tram W 342. Has the dates regarding the tramcar's working life on the top of the illustration. Advised by Donor that Jack was a "tram employee" between 1919 and 1922, a Gripman - 1924 - 1925 and a Motorman 1928 - 1931. After that he was a signalman. The photo was possibly taken at an opening of new track event. Scanned from an original photograph by the donor and sent to the depot when visiting about organising a tour. Tram crew in full uniform of the era, driver holding the controller and brake handles. The Logs at Carisbrook was the major gaol in the extensive Carisbrook Police District until 1858, and remained Carisbrook's gaol for low key offenders until about 1900. The lockup was registered by the National Trust on 22/10/1964.Colour photograph of the Carisbrook Police Lockup The Police staton was originally known as the Loddon Punt opening in 1851. The lock up was completed in October 1854 by James Corbet at a cost of 380 pounds. Standing in the park beside Bucknall Street it is the town's one significant historic building. It was originally built on the police paddock adjacent to the primary school and moved to its present site in 1886. The walls are made of interlocking horizontally-laid logs. The shingle roof has been replaced with corrugated iron. The lockup was built on site from local materials, and opened in 1851. It was moved to its current position ofter the original locationn flooded. This is a supplement issued by the Weekly Times newspaper in 1896 to commemorate the opening of the Warrnambool Industrial ad Art Exhibition in November 1896. The exhibition ran for three months in the Warrnambool Town Hall/Mechanics Institute area with some temporary buildings. The attendance was recorded as 70,000, making it one of the biggest events ever held in Warrnambool. There were displays, competitions, concerts and operas and sporting and cultural events. The exhibition was historically important as being the time and place when the earliest surviving sound recordings made in Australia were produced by Tommy Rome on an Edison phonograph. The supplement came from the estate of Bruce Morris, the editor of the Warrnambool Standard from 1946 to 1968 and an important Warrnambool historian.This paper, although tattered is a most important souvenir of the Warrnambool Industrial and Art Exhibition of 1896-7, a significant event in Warrnambool’s history. The book was used as a visitors book for the early Mission to Seafarers. The first date in the book is the 13th of December, 1907, although there are almost six pages of signatures before this. The last signature is dated the 28th of June, 1951. The book documents some of the most significant moments of the Central Institute: - the Opening Ceremony of the "new" Mission to Seafarers building in September 1917. - the signature of HRH Edward, then Prince of Wales, and a newspaper clipping, detailing his visit, during has Australian tour in 1920. - the visit by the Governors General including HRH the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester in 1945. Also registered: the Australian Chaplains conference attendees of both 1936 and 1949. Many supporters, ladies from the Guild and seafarers signed the book.The book is a significant record of VIP visitors to the Mission to Seafarers 1907 to 1951. It records respective Opening Ceremonies for Mission Buildings of both 1907 and 1917 and attendees. The book also documents a visit from Edward, Prince of Wales in 1920, travelling on the H.M.S "Renown". In 1951 Victoria commemorated 100 years of the Victorian Parliament. A protective lined keepsake box contains a black rod (in two parts) with a small plaque: "Presented by [the] silver and electroplate ware Manufacturers Association. Made by Harold C. Hutchinson, Eltham. It was first used in 1954. Black Rod is best known for their part in the ceremonies surrounding the State Opening of Parliament and the Speech from the throne. They summon the Commons to attend the speech and lead them to the Lords. As part of the ritual, the doors to the chamber of the House of Commons are slammed in the approaching Black Rod's face. This is to symbolise the Commons' independence of the Sovereign. This is a programme of the Warrnambool City Council Civic & Thanksgiving Official Service on November 1918. The service was held in the Warrnambool Botanic Gardens, conducted by the Ministers of the Churches in Warrnambool and led by the combined choirs of the churches. It was a public occasion held to offer thanksgiving for the end of World War One in November 1918. One of the hymns sung had the opening lines: ‘O God of Love, O King of Peace/Make wars throughout the world to cease’. The service was attended by the Mayor of Warrnambool and the City Councillors and Council employees. World War One was a signal event in the history of Warrnanmbool (as it was for all places in Australia) with so many young men volunteering for active service and so many dying overseas.This programme is of great interest as it records an important occasion in Warrnambool – the end of World War One and the official service of thanksgiving that commemorated this happening. There is blue printed material on three of the pages. The front page has the City of Warrnambool crest printed in blue with blue edging on the page and some ornamental patterns.
