Domestic Object - Butter dish, Cambridge, 1960's
Yields information about the SEC's provision of awards to employees for 12 months of safety and has a strong association with the person that the award was granted to.Two piece butter dish - nickel plated silver tray with an "Electricity Supply Department" badge glued to the dish with the SEC logo and words "Safety Award" and a glass dish - fluted that acts as a butter or jam dish. Advised by Donor, that following the award - 12 months without an accident, he was involved in one the following day. Stamped on rear of dish "Cambridge A1 Quality". Demonstrates aspects of Ballarat's Tramway operations by the SEC in noting the days a person was call forward from their roster time to start work earlier. Has a strong association with the SEC and tram operations in Ballarat.Rubber stamp and wood stamp base for stamping rosters and/or time sheets with the words "CALL FORWARD" to indicate when a person had had his shift adjusted, earlier time start or a different day to that rostered. Would have had his pay adjusted.. Yields information about the Ballarat Tramway losses during the 1940's and for 1954.Page of five newspaper clippings from The Courier, pasted to a single foolscap lined page. 1 - "Ballarat Tramways Run at Loss" - reporting on the SEC Annual Report in 1954, and the loss on the operation of the Ballarat Tramways. 2 - "Tramway Revenue Up" - 1941 - 1842 - reporting on the SEC report to Parliament the previous day - losses in all three systems and track extension in Bendigo to North Bendigo. 3 - "Provincial Tramway Losses Higher" - 1948-1949 - reporting on the SEC losses on the tramways and electricity customer numbers in the Ballarat area. 4 -"SEC Tramways Losses L16,406", undated. 5 - "Ballarat Trams return small surplus" - Geelong and Bendigo lost money, tramway capital now virtually written off.
