High round neckline, full length, centre front opening - rounded at the lower edge, and trimmed with two velvet covered buttons, under which is a small metal hook and eye to fasten at the waistline. Sleeves are full length, and trimmed with two fabric covered 2.5 cm buttons at the top edge of a 9.5 cm opening - this may have been a turn-back cuff, or a peaked edge. Left turn back is badly worn. Black and White Photograph of the Narre Warren East shop, possibly taken 1953-1956, featuring a building at the top of a driveway. About seven cars are parked out the front of the building. The shop has a high-pitched roof, a central door, and large windows or a verandah. Under the left windows is an advertisement for Swallows ice cream. There are trees surrounding the shop. This was the first and only store in Narre Warren East. It is now a house on Wellington Road. The home and store was built by Bert Dorning, and the Dornings opened and ran the store.

Pru Sanderson, in her groundbreaking ‘City of Kew Urban Conservation Study : Volume 2 - Development History’ (1988), summarised the periods of urban development and subdivisions of land in Kew. The periods that she identified included 1845-1880, 1880-1893, 1893-1921, 1921-1933, 1933-1943, and Post-War Development. These periods were selected as they represented periods of rapid growth or decline in urban development. An obvious starting point for Sanderson’s groupings involved population growth and the associated economic cycles. These cycles also highlighted urban expansion onto land that was predominantly rural, although in other cases it represented the decline and breakup of large estates. A number of the plans in the Kew Historical Society’s collection can also be found in other collections, such as those of the State Library of Victoria and the Boroondara Library Service. A number are however unique to the collection.Subdivision plans are historically important documents used as evidence of the growth of suburbs in Australia. They frequently provide information about when the land was sold on which a built structure was subsequently constructed as well as evidence relating to surveyors and real estate and financial agents. The numerous subdivision plans in the Kew Historical Society's collection represent working documents, ranging from the initial sketches made in planning a subdivision to printed plans on which auctioneers or agents listed the prices for which individual lots were sold. In a number of cases, the reverse of a subdivision plan in the collection includes a photograph of a house that was also for sale by the agent. These photographs provide significant heritage information relating house design and decoration, fencing and household gardens.In the subdivision of part of Crown Portion 82, bordered by John and Sackville Streets and Cotham and Burke Roads, over 100 lots were offered for sale. In addition to the designated lots, a number of key locations are also identified. These include the Genazzano Convent to the north of Cotham Road, the Reservoir, St Hilary’s and the land holding of Colonel Parnell on the corner of John Street and Cotham Road. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. It was the first independent school of nursing in Victoria and continued until it closed in 1989. The book "The First of its Kind" was published in 2015. Printed in Bendigo by "Bendigo Modern Press". A very small photograph which has been made into a souvenir/postcard. The photograph is a view of Sussex Street, Linton, looking to the south-east. Buildings which can be seen in the photograph include Bennett's garage/service station, the Bennett family home, and the Edinburgh Bakery. The photograph is glued to a cream-coloured card which has a decorative edge cut into it. A printed border surrounds the photograph, and the words "A View at Linton" are printed underneath it. Anthony Truscott ( 1856-1913) was a Cornishman who came to Bendigo in 1880. He initially undertook mining interests before opening a grocery store in 1884. The house at 2 Havilah STreet, "Kilhallen", was probably named after his hometown in Cornwall.Real Estate advertisement for a home built by Anthony Truscott in 1900 called Kilhallen. There are three photos, one of the two story house, one of the ornate fireplace and a small add on building at the rear. Archir Harker was married to Ruby Wilson and mentioned in the "Wielands of Heathmont "book. From Greg Coker: In August 2023, RDHS asked Greg Coker to scan a set of negatives. He was able to work out, through various notes, that the pictures were taken by J A Harker of 9 Grange St, Mont Albert in the mid 50s to the mid 60s. Most of the film was 9cm X 6cm B&W negatives. All pictures have been cropped and where appropriate, put through a light filter. They have been scanned at 1600ppi resulting in ~3meg B&W shots (~5meg for the half dozen colour shots). The Harkers certainly liked their hiking – they were ahead of their time. Images scanned from Kodak Print packet of negatives, undated. After scanning in 2023 by Greg Coker, the negatives were disposed and just the packet retained. Some photos may be duplicated in other VC Harker/Weiland family records if the original prints were donated. Greg's comments: Early 60s – Original Negatives.
