Gone are the days of the ladies' Fancy Bazaar, Fat Baby Contest, Greasy Pig Chase. . . Many old traditions remain. . . Bendigo's links with the Chinese community go back to the dates when the first settlers arrived seeking gold. The Chinese took a very active part in the fist Fair. . . In those days many people made the journey to Bendigo by train from Melbourne or by horse and buggy from outlying districts.. . ''Sun Loong'', or ''New Dragon''. . . Horse and Harness Parade a great success each tear attracted an immense variety of horses and horse drawn vehicles. . . Torchlight Procession on Sunday Sports Carnival Fireworks. . . Papers - Mt Beauty Drinking Water 1997, 1997 - 1998
In 1996, the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, instead of World Health Organisation Guidelines introduced in 1983, were introduced. The Australian guidelines allowed for some flexibility and the Upper Kiewa Community Consultative Committee supported a package proposal that included Ultra Violet/Ozone treatment. The debate was a rejection of chlorination by a public meeting in Mt Beauty in Feb. 1997.Mt Beauty residents were asked about the treatment of their drinking water at a public meeting and by an Information Questionnaire. North East Region Water Authority was involved - the debate is an example of community consultation, drinking water standards and the input of the authorities that were involved.Papers re introducing the chlorination of the water in Mt Beauty in 1997-1998. The papers consist of articles in a green folder, the newspaper "The Alpine Times" x2, the Ovens & Kiewa 'Valley Echo' and the local Falls Creek and Bogong, Mt Beauty news 'This Week' x5.drinking water, chlorination, ultra violet/ozone treatment, community consultation -

Galen Catholic College Artist's Sketch, 1974
When Galen Catholic College was first proposed in the early 1970s, much more building development was envisioned. This artists sketch from 1974 shows the proposed development in two stages. Melbourne Legacy
Photograph - Photo
A group of photos depicting a gathering of Legatees and/or wives and/or Legacy widows. Unfortunately there is no information indicating the whereabouts of this gathering or the nature of the gathering. It is possibly a gathering in Hobart at the war memorial (based on the background). It is possibly at the 60th anniversary of Legacy in 1983 (see also 00488 and 00829). Hobart is important in the history of Legacy as Sir Gellibrand started a precursor to Legacy called the Remembrance Club.A record of a gathering of Legatees in Hobart as part of a conference.Four colour photos pasted to a thin sheet of white cardboard of a gathering at a war memorial.legatee event, wreath laying ceremony, 60th anniversary -
