Document - Instruction, Electric Supply Co. of Vic (ESCo), "Notes for Motormen re New Weekly Tickets.", Feb. 1927
Four page foolscap stencil duplicated instruction sheet titled "Notes for Motormen re New Weekly Tickets.", pinned in the top left hand corner. Details the new style of ESCo weekly tickets to be used in Ballarat from Monday 7/2/1927, where two types of tickets were used - Morning and Evening Tickets and Lunch Hour Tickets. Gives instructions on their use, advantages, colours, fraud protection, schedule of timing when tickets issued against the various run numbers on page 3. Page four, titled "Instructions for Conductors re New Weekly Return Tickets and Weekly Tickets" gives instructions re the issuing of 4d return tickets, a new 3d return ticket and how the colours varied with each day. Notes when the tickets will be collected by the clerk for runs 13 and 14. See Reg. The signs could be taken away from the stops when necessary. The tram has the destination of Newtown Photo taken after 1953. Dave O'Neil's notes that the tram has terminated in the city instead of through routing to Eastern Park and was about to reverse to run to Newtown - an unusual working. Negative Nos. N393 and N394 and black and white print made by a laser printer (stored in folder) of Bendigo tram No. 6 at Golden Square terminus. Tram has the destination of Golden Square. Has the Golden Square hotel in the background and an Age advertisement on the dash panel. Note the large overhead pan at the terminus. .1 - tram has arrived and the driver/conductor has place the pole on the overhead after turning the pole. .2 - Driver/conductor standing by front of tram. Date of photo on folder - 26/9/1962?? or 1 Jan 1963. A date on the front of the folder of 1/12/1959 is too early - tram has been painted with tiger stripes and fitted with dash canopy lighting. Same date on Ballarat folders as well - see negative number N392 etc. Crew member wearing a great coat - unusual for Bendigo on a new years day. Photo early 1960's. Photo appears to be taken in the early days of tram operation - small destination box. Has the Ballarat Town Hall, the National Mutual Life building, Snows and other buildings on the south side of Sturt. St. Has a number of horse drawn vehicles in the image as well. Two certificates issues by the Western Australian Government Tramways and Ferries to a tram driver and a trolley bus driver. 4287.1 - Certificate No. 1031, originally printed for the Western Australian Government Tramways and Electricity Supply, but overtyped with the word "Ferries", issued to Ian Arthur Johnson for the position of Motorman on 3/11/1949 and signed by the General Manager.
