This is a large hardwood honour board. The top edge is curved, under which is the title. Under the title is a painted, coloured Australian Coat of Arms. Kangaroo and Emu. Under that is a shelf. The Parade Commander was CO LTCOL Don Swiney MBE, and the Reviewing Officer was the former CO of the Army Survey Regiment – LTCOL Don Ridge (Retd). The Corps Day Parade was held to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the formation of the Royal Australian Survey Corps. The photos are the presentation by Alan Holmes President of Bendigo RSL to Cliff Clohesy in February 1997. Clifford Clohesy served on the Committee Bendigo RSL 1989 to 1991, 1993 to 1996, he was President the years 1993 to 1996. Cliff was a hard worker in the two RSL Appeals each year. One of his achievements was the building of 22 Single person units in Kangaroo Flat finished in 1997. Alan William Holmes served on the Committee 1993 to 2001. He was President the years 1997 to 2001. Two of the later years was the change over from Bendigo RSL to Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch Inc. He was the Organizer of events for the "Australia Remembers" 50 years after the end of WW2 in Bendigo. It was Alans proposal to turn the SMI into a Museum in 1996 with the first Museum Sub Committee being formed in May 1997 and the opening in February 1998. Now the Bendigo Military Museum. He stayed heavily involved until 2003. He was the organizer and conducted the Sandakan Memorial Service from 1999 to 2012. From there as much as possible Alan visited veterans in Nursing homes and a Wing of "BUPA" was named "Holmes Wing". This is a coloured reproduction print of an original Plane Table compilation map sheet of Nagambie area 1inch to 1 Mile scale compiled by Sgt Jack Cullen Australian Survey Corps 30 September 1921. Jack was one of the foundation members of the Australian Survey Corps. Of particular interest is the fact that this is a heighted compilation with contouring (required for Military use) as many early maps were purely planimetric. A table on the right hand side details the number of days that it took to produce the compilation. The first photograph was probably taken at a media event announcing the introduction of the Heidelberg Speedmaster printing press in late 1990. LTCOL Rene van den Tol was the CO of the Army Survey Regiment from 1989 to 1991. Partly obscured behind the CO was Mr Bruce Reid, who was the newly elected federal member for Bendigo. The media event was held in Wayzgoose Hall, Lithographic Squadron’s new purpose-built building constructed to house the Speedmaster printing press. This occasion is covered in more detail in page 143 of Valerie Lovejoy’s book 'Mapmakers of Fortuna – A history of the Army Survey Regiment’ ISBN: 0-646-42120-4. This is a booklet describing the Australian Survey Corps 80th Birthday Parade held at the Army Survey Regiment Parade ground at Fortuna on 1 July 1995. 1 July 1915 was the date of the formation of the Australian Survey Corps. The booklet lists the Reviewing Officer Major General GD Carter AM, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Host officer, Official Guest, Senior Regimental appointments, the Order of Ceremony and a complete list of Army Survey Regiment members on parade.Small A5 sized booklet, soft cardboard covered with paper pages with two staples.
