Has form number CR3. Date of printing given in bottom left hand corner as 12.43. Issued to "Denmead Leslie James 133 Glenlyon Rd. Bwick" (Brunswick) in Sept. 1945. Issued at No. 1 P.D. Depot, Ransford. Has two punch holes along the top edge - probably not in at the time of issue. Has signature of holder and witness (E.A Showers) to signature of rear. Newspaper Clipping (p7) from "Catholic", No. 178, November 1998, contains the story written by Mother May Oliver, Imp. James O'Collins RC Bishop of Ballarat, January 1945, chapter 7 of "All for All", relating to the life of the 'the young girl countess Elizabeth Wolff-Metterich of Germany. The story revolves around her visit to Melbourne and Ballarat - in particular the visit to Lorretto - sighting of 'a tram (streetcar) bearing 'convent' as its head sign'. The reference to arrival by tram in the article suggests by the author that the Countess arrived by electric tram (by the use of the word 'streetcar'. In actual fact, date of visit was 1898, so it would have be the horse tram. James to the Historical Society about the experimental battery tram in Ballarat in October 1888. Notes that Duncan and Fraser input into the Julien Battery experiment, Mr. Bullimore the electrician and trails and problems with the track. When he died in February 1883, Wombeetch Puyuun was the last member of the Liwura Gundidj clan still living on Country at Camperdown. The Wombeetch Puyuun Monument was erected by his friend and Guardian, James Dawson in 1885, largely at his own expense. At the top is engraved 1840, which marked the beginning of the demise of the local First Nations people. Below are a boomerang, a club, and a message stick. At the bottom is the year 1883 which saw the last of the local First Nations people on Country with the death of Wombeetch Puyuun. On the base are the words: "In memory of the Aborigines of this district. Here lies the body of the chief, Wombeetch Puyuun, and the last of the local tribes".
