The video shows Laurie LIght, a sleeper cutter for 42 years, using a swing saw. There is also a video of a lyre bird display. Laurie Light was born on May 12, 1938 to parents, Arthur Vernon Light and Nellie Hall. He started work with his father, a sleeper cutter for the Victorian Railways, at the age of 16. Allied military badges collected during the Great War 1914 to 1918 by Private (Shoeing Smith) John BLAIKIE 2341 who was born at Wangaratta. He was a Blacksmith and at the age of 42 enlisted on May 28 1915. He embarked on August 10 1915 and served with the 14th Battalion. He returned to Australia in January 1918 and discharged as medically unfit on April 10 1918. Report by J Andrews, Kew Depot ATMOEA delegate dated 24/9/1991 about the possibility of cross linking some tram routes and issues or objections raised, looking at specifically Kew Depot routes, 42, 48 and 78/79, includes comments on route 75. A second document looks at the possibly extension of the Mont Albert route to Box Hill and the advantages of this, including the politics. Copy of a colour slide showing Tram 42 in Lydiard Street North, at the terminus. This photo is taken from the north east looking down Lydiard Street. The conductor is adjusting the trolley pole it is preparing to head back into the city, and the destination board is reading Sebastopol. The shelter at the terminus can be seen, and there is a female passenger in hat and coat walking away from the tram. The photographer says this was taken on the last of the last tram to run in Lydiard Street in 1971.
