This book was produced as a project for the 1915 ANZAC centenary. The book became too unwieldy and was then divided into written information and a CD with the details of each man - name; rank; service number and unit. Almost 2500 names have been traced. For current Australians, the Anzac Centenary is one of the most significant commemorations to take place during their lifetime. It was a time to contemplate the legacy of those who served in World war 1 and those who never returned to their families or friends. This book records that time and especially honours those from East Gippsland.A paper back book, titled "East Gippsland's ANZACS a tribute to those who served in World War 1". On the front cover is a sepia photograph of "Thirty East Gippsland Boys" taken in early 1916 during training at Heliopolis (Greece) before embarkation for France. The first signature at the top of the front cover is "Tom Dunphy 6th Batt". This was his invitation he had signed by attendee's. He was very involved in the 6th Batt Association in Bendigo. Refer Cat No 1093 for items re Tom. Program folding card, front cover has two flags at top with a Rising Sun image under followed by the heading "Banquet", under is the date, place, then an image of a Soldier and Sailor. Inside has first page a list of "Toasts" and by whom, 3rd page is the extensive menu and last on rear the committee names of the Bendigo Branch. a. Program for the concert held at the Capital Theatre, View Street, Bendigo on 24th. April 2015, titled 'Coo-ee! Songs of the Anzacs' music and images of World War One and the launch of a double CD of the same name. The concert was organised by Peter Ellis, who also co-ordinated and produced the double CD. A similar concert was held at Goornong Soldiers' Memorial Hall on 24th.January 2015, also organised by Peter Ellis with the Goornong Hall Committee. The CD production was a joint effort between Peter and the Bendigo Historical Society, partly funded by a Federal Grant from the Anzac Centenary Grants. During the planning and development of the CD, Peter became ill with pancreatic cancer. He passed away within a month of the Concert at the Capital. B. A Legacy ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance. One of the annual "Anzac Commemoration Ceremony for Students" events, usually held just prior to ANZAC Day. The ceremony provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain an appreciation of the Anzac spirit, the significance of the Shrine and the meaning of Anzac Day. This souvenir card "to the ANZACS Christmas 1915" was produced with greeting messages from General Sir Ian Hamilton, General Sir William Birdwood and Senator Pearce. The card was being sent by Australian Women in England to all Invalided Australians in England, Egypt and Malta. It would appear that Lady Birdwood was one of many behind the production of the Card.
