All items belonged to Harold Victor Allen who worked for Colonial Gas Association Ltd. Firstly at Footscray and then Box Hill in the 1960's. Retired in 1971. Born in Ballarat in 1906. Apprenticed and worked there till 1945, then moved to Footscray. Eileen, his wife, worked with Harold, helping with the Natural Gas Conversion during Harold's Box Hill time.Change over in Victoria from Gas fired gas supply to Natural Gas supply to Victoria from about 1965 -1. Else-Lore and her mother Else Oertel were German internees in Camp 3A from 1940-1945. The German Red Cross sent items to the internees in the camps and this tin of chocolate was one of the items given to the Oertel family. Else-Lore Hukins donated the item, which she describes as a 'treasured item'.Round metal tin with plastic-wrapped cake of chocolate inside. Chocolate has Hildebrand inscribed in centre with picture possibly of two knights on horseback. Tin has cream/tan lid with dark brown base. Peaked uniform cap worn by members of the Luftwaffe Flak Group Pattern is NCO pattern dated 1939. Note refers to Waffenfabre which translates to Weapons Factory.Predominately black peaked hat. Top portion black felt with red edging and emblem of silver eagle carrying a Swaztika on front.
