Functional object - Cloth Bag, Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), mid 1970's to 1980's
Cloth bag - sewn brown canvas with a metal ring and cloth strip attached to one side and stencilled "16" on both sides of the bag. Based on a charge led by Major Hugh Quinn of 15th Battalion killed leading a charge against Turkish Forces who had gained a foothold on the ANZAC lines. This diorama was made to celebrate this event.Artistic representation of the Turkish soldiers charging Quinns post in June 1915. Book - St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Murrumbeena
This file contains four items about the history of the church: 1/Typed letter dated 17/05/1977 from Mrs. C. Fergusson for the Murrumbeena United Church to accompany Item 2. 2/Four original copies plus a photocopy of ‘St. Giles Presbyterian Church Murrumbeena (An Outline of Sixty-five Years of Progress) 1890-1955’. These include lists of clergy, significant congregational members etc. One of the books is noted ‘Doble’ on the cover, as sent by Allan Doble in Item 3. 3/Handwritten letter dated 15/01/1999 from Allen Doble which accompanied one of the books at Item 2. This letter includes information on Dr Seymour, first Minister at St. Giles. Certificate given to Hugh Jeffrey in 1972 upon his being awarded the Paris Medal. The certificate features a brown classic etching-style drawing of Parisian-style buildings and canals, including Notre Dame Cathedral. Inset into the drawing is the following inscription, translated from the original French: "The Council Office of Paris in its session of 13th March 1972 awarded Monsieur Hugh Jeffrey the silver medal of the City of Paris." Forty four pages of the Cocks Family History including Acknowledgements and an introductory letter from David James Cocks. No page seven. The Cock Family came England and on arrival in Victoria the letter 's' was added to their surname. Robinson Cock came to Australia at the request of his brother-in-law, John Hunter Patterson, who owned Moorabbee Station, where he started to work.
