Brown cloth covered bound book, 124 pages, plus printed end sheets used in covers, titled "MMTB Electric Tramways and Motor Omnibuses Sections and Fares", dated September 1958, authorised by B. H. Misson Traffic Manger. Book consists of four sections, bound with sewn cloth binding on the outside with glued white paper end covers. September 1958, Details the various section stages and fares for each tram and bus route, General instructions, concession fares and has photos or drawings of the various special tickets, eg passes or prepaid tickets. Copy 1 - page 40 correction has been glued in upside down as has been "28 Change" on page 123. Copy 2 - page 40 - fares corrected by hand, "28 Change" glue in correctly. Photograph of one of the three Victorian Railways "Luxury" cars that were sold to the MMTB following the closure of the final section of the St Kilda - Brighton tramway on 28-2-1959. The tramcar has been placed on No. 15 trucks to enable movement around the workshops. Two of the trams, No. 52 and 53 were modified with longer running boards, full driver's bulkheads to replace the blackout blinds, route number boxes, removal of the red oil lamps above the headlight, conversion to from Broad gauge (5'3") to standard gauge, changes to destination boxes, seating and many other changes. Twenty 28 page printed program with a four colour cover printed on heavier stock for the 1971 Begonia Festival. Includes details of the organisers, a welcome to the City, Sovereign Hill, Official programme, (26/2 to 8/3), photos and details of the various tourist attractions, statistics about Ballaarat, some details of the facilities, churches, Royal South St and industry. The main text is printed in black ink, the centre 16pp consists of the programme printed in blue ink. Front page has a half full cover photo of the gardens area. All other photos are black and white. On page 31 is a small photo of a bogie tram at Mt. Pleasant and that these trams were 'doomed' and would be replaced by buses. On rear cover is a map of Ballarat in pink ink, showing the tram and bus routes. Second copy held - added 28/12/2002. See Reg Item 5042 for an advertising brochure for the festival. Also yields information on a route number system, not generally used for the public.Booklet with green cloth covers, titled in gold block "State Electricity Commission of Victoria - Tramways - Rules Governing Employees - May 1936"on heavy card with inside paper covers on heavy paper and 24 pages printed both sides, with stitched pages with white cotton. Gives details with an index of the rules for Motorman, Conductors and both types of employees together. Has an "Issued to" form inside the front cover - no entries. Gives details of the Board members, actions against the cable tram operator, passenger statistics, financial statements, General Managers Report, Cost and description of the undertaking, fares, routes and mileage, freehold and leasehold property, balance sheet, stats, revenue accounts, graphs of monthly revenue, passengers carried and car mileage for the period 30/6/1914 to 30/6/1917. Newspaper Clipping - from The Argus 28 October 1940, titled "Last of Cable Trams / Quiet passing after secret send-off", about the closure of the Bourke St cable tram routes the previous Saturday nights when the trams were withdrawn prior to the schedule time and replaced by buses. Gives details of the last tram, crews etc. Notes the driver of the last Nicholson St tram as J. Peden, conductor A. C. Craven, Mr. M. McSweeney as the bus depot dispatcher, Mr. E. Lang as the first driver and conductor, Mr. J. Lee. Also quotes Mr Bell that the tram tracks would be kept in running order if needed, but new cables would be needed. A check with Trove shows the Argus as the source of the newspaper. On the rear of the cutting (3rd last item) is a note that Mr. J. K. Full title "Report of Board Appointed to Investigate the problem of Relieving Congestion of Traffic in Melbourne" The Board or "Traffic Board" comprised 5 representatives of Councils, MMTB, Railways and the Public Works Department includes comments on growth of Melbourne, railways, tramways, new arterial roads, subways, new bridge at Spencer St, regulation of street traffic, looks at new tramway routes, hours works and provides a summary of recommendations including drawings for new arterial roads, graphs and roads / tramway layouts in two chain wide roads.
