This is a pattern for the stove front for the oat kiln at the mill.Rectangular piece of wood, broken at one end with two full cutouts and part of third. One, and the part of another cut-out is high arches. Frame, missing in places, running along outer rim and along cut-outs. Two rows of nails run down between arches holding braces in palce on back.

Augers were used in processing the grain, however this wooden auger is possibly a pattern for a cast metal auger.A long piece of hexagonal wood with a descending spiral of square wooden blades. On the top it has a circular piece of wood

Used to make cast for the metal ring gear for the water wheel which powered the Mill.Slightly arched wooden pattern with wooden ridges along the edge. Three square metal plates with a hole in the centre, bolted on with four bolts. Ten pentagin pieces of wood attached to the face.

Used as pattern to cast crown wheel of drive on water wheel. Actual drive has since been sold, only mold remainsCircular wooden pattern, raised centre circular area surrounded by four wide, flat spokes at regular intervals (the interim spaces being cut out with rounded corners) which are in turn surrounded by a rim which tapers back from the centre of the piece and has fixed to it regularly interleaved slats. Slats of protruding oblongs tapered from attachment to top and also central end to outer point. Light coloured wood 1 & 2 are Broken off pieces of back.

Probably used to drive machinery as part of milling process.From left to right along long centre pole (horizontal) is a small wide wheel, on a narrow arched stand.At the centre of the pole is a larger, slimmer wheel followed by a smaller wheel.

Sifter, part of machine.Rectangular in shape, made from wood. Six large rectangular spaces covered with a finely perforated zinc sheet. Two smaller spaces are made with a third piece of wood dividing the bottom horizontally.

Attaches to a tap, used in the milling process. (some taps are still intact in the mill building.)Long cylindrical metal hose which gets narrower near the tip. attached to a long canvass hose.

Appears to be a millstone that would have been used with another stone to grind wheat.Large circular stone wheel with ridges carved into its outer side. It has a hole through the middle with a metal fixture in it.

This is a bag trolley that was used to transport large bags of grain or other items at the mill.Wooden frame of trolley, with vertical handles with three stabilising cross bars. Base of trolley has a curved metal part. This mounted on two small metal wheels.

Used to drive the belt for machines.A long shaft with five wheels of varying height attached to it. The largest wheel has six spokes, the second to last in size has five curved spokes. One wheel is made of hard rubber. The shaft extends beyond the largest wheel, where it has a big bolt. The shaft extends an inch or two beyond the wheel at the other end. All wheels are bolted on.

Bird, eldest daughter of Mr George Bird, of "View Hill," Eltham, to Mr Ernest Edward Pepper, of Diamond Creek, was celebrated at the residence of the bride's parents on Wednesday, 9th November, 1904. The ceremony took place at 4 p.m. and was performed by the Rev Percey Knight, B.A., of Alphington. The bride entered the drawing room with her father who gave her away, and the Wedding March, was nicely played by Miss Wild. The bride was prettily dressed in creme voile nicely tucked and gathered, trimmed with guipure lace and silk ruching, sprays of orange blossom, wreath and veil, and she carried a shower bouquet. Her travelling dress was a very pretty blue. The brides-maids were Miss Ethel Barker dressed in pale green voile trimmed with creme guipure lace and silk ruching; and Miss Button in creme voile, guipure lace, silk ruching; both carried pretty bouquets. The groomsmen were Mr Lorimer, of Diamond Creek, and Mr George Bird, brother of the bride. Between forty and fifty relatives and friends partook of a bountifully provided and nicely laid out breakfast. The usual toasts were honored, and congratulations were freely tendered "to the happy couple". The decorations were very tastefully executed by Miss Beatrice Nelson, and Mr Sayers. The evening was very pleasantly spent in singing, recitations, games, and other suitable pastimes, while others "tipped the light fantastic toe". About 10 p.m., "while all was merry as a marriage bell", the bride and bridegroom departed secretly "to cheat surprise and prying eyes". This store in Main Street Bacchus Marsh was first opened by James Young in November 1866. In October 1869 it was purchased by William Anderson and was operated by members of the Anderson family until 1971. The site of the store was on the southern side of Main Street on the eastern side of Eddie Toole Park. On the opposite side of the street was the site of the former Post Office on the northern side of Main Street. The store was first named the Border Mills Store during James Young's ownership and was later known as the Border Store (Anderson & Co.).Small black and white photograph showing Anderson’s store. Some decades ago a card sorting set for the identification and description of Australian timbers was developed for timber species which were available commercially and were in common usage, by the Commonwealth of Australia (CSIRO, Division of Forest Products) To complement and inform this national timber set each State or Territory developed reference timber sets of representative species. The Commercial Timbers of Victoria set was Victoria’s most recent (circa 1984) expression of this Victorian timber samples were sourced from logs selected by Forest Commission of Victoria (FCV) District Foresters and milled locally. Kiln drying and machining was carried out at timber producers Row, Web and Anderson, in Port Melbourne.
