Corrabert Park was owned by Francis Flintoff, sold c. 1924 to Mr. E. Fullwood, who sold the property in December 1947 to Mr. W. M. Bamford for 8500 pounds. The land had frontage to the Plenty River and water from the MMBW aqueduct which passed through the property. There was a residence and two small rented cottages on the property. History of Ringwood Bowls Club, Bamford Park, Miles Avenue, founded as Ringwood Bowling Club. There are four variations of the history, all kept in white binders with inserts containing various aspects of historical material. All four have been converted into searchable, digital format. 4598a Kept at RDHS Archives (01-02-01). Compiled in 1996 by A. Holliday and M. Pottenger, including earlier compilation in 1961 by Jack Knox and Wilfred Bamford. Contains a lot of historical documents. 4598b Kept at Ringwood Bowls Club premises. Mostly officebearers, awards and championships. 4598c Kept at Ringwood Bowls Club and RDHS archives premises. Mostly Ladies Section from 1959 to 2004. 4598d Kept at Ringwood Bowls Club and RDHS archives premises. From 1996 to 2004, mixed Ladies and Men's Sections.

The card relates to the Official Centenary Ball held in the Warrnambool Town Hall in March 1947 to celebrate the city's Centenary in 1947. Warrnambool was founded as a port settlement to service the farming interests in the area, with the first land sales held in Melbourne in July 1847. The leaflet is a programme of the Civic Memorial Service held in the Botanic Gardens in Warrnambool in February1952 on the occasion of the death of King George VI of England. Both items came from memorabilia held by the Bamford family of 8 Monash Avenue Warrnambool and it is presumed that one or more members of that family attended the events.These items are of social significance as mementos of events in Warrnambool in the mid 20th century..1 A white card with black printing and a logo .2 A sheet of white paper folded to make four pages with black printing and a photograph of King George VI of Englandwarrnambool memorabilia, warrnambool centenary, warrnambool centenary 1947, official centenary ball.

The idea for a Bowling Club was started by Mr. Bert Cocks, the Manager of the State Savings Bank when he arrived in Ringwood in 1929 but it took two years before a suitable site and was found and in 1931 the club as formed. Ther were 57 foundation members. The President was Councillor Arthur Blood and W. Cox, Secretary. Ten months later the first Annual Report stated that " the green was ready for sowing, a Club House with a billiard table , donations of light fittings and furnishings by members and committee and a balance sheet showing assets over liabilities of £446,3,8." The book continues until 1961.It was compiled by Members Jack Knox and Wilfred Bamford.Plain green hard-covered book (untitled) with 25 typed pages. Returned to RDHS from Federation Estate Art GalleryPhoto 1 (7009a) - Former "Ringwood Mail" newspaper office, Adelaide Street, 1955, looking along laneway to west. Lane between Bamford's Timber Yard, corner Warrandyte Rd. and Maroondah Highway, and went to Melbourne St, later called Civic Place. Other buildings were Ham's Billiard Saloon, the two-story Renong Chambers, bottom left Jack Orr's clothes hoists and bottom right Horman & Woolhouse plumbers. All demolished for the building of Eastland in the 1960s. The photo shown is a typical example but may not be in the collection.
