The Eureka Swimming Pool is now on the site of the pool depicted. Swimming was first approved on this site at the former Lake Elsworth 1932, before it was transformed into a pool and opened in 1935. Tom (Mr Begonia) Beaumont, death July 14, 1989, Courier newspaper. A cream-shaded begonia and a lawn at the Botanic Gardens bear the name of Ballarat's best known gardener, Tom Beaumont, who died at the weekend.
