Vehicle - Holden FE special sedan, July 1956
... sedan Car Diecast special sedan badge on rear quarters. Number ...BY THE time the FJ Holden was replaced with the FE in July 1956, Australia’s own had taken many steps forward. The six-volt electrics were replaced with a 12-volt set-up, the two-piece windscreen was replaced with a single curved item and the skinny 15in rims were replaced with 13x4.5 steelies. Unlike the FX-FJ, the FE was designed locally by an Australian team. The resulting car was much sleeker than the earlier models, being two inches longer in the wheelbase, four inches longer overall and slightly heavier than its predecessor. To compensate, the 132ci grey motor was blessed with another small dose of horsepower thanks to larger valves and improved cylinder heads. Other mechanical improvements included pendulum-style brake and clutch pedals, hydraulic clutch actuation, larger brake drums and recirculating ball (rather than worm and sector) steering. Other great leaps forward included optional heater, indicators, reversing lights, windscreen washers and demister. In knocked down form was the first model to be exported to New ZealandBlack painted special sedan. Added accessories include exterior sun visor, headlight protectors, and on the interior grab handle mounted across the back of the front seatDiecast special sedan badge on rear quarters. Vehicle - HD Holden Premier, 1965
The HD Holden was introduced by GMH in 1965 and for a variety of reasons was considered the ugly duckling. The HD replaced the large selling and very popular EH (1964) model. the dramatic change in design from the square slopped EH to the sharp edged shape of the HD was met with some buyer resistance and was highly criticised by the motor writing fraternity. The unusual front guard shape, which became known as kidney cutters, which assisted with the unpopular impression, resulted in lower sales. The vehicle had both the 149 and 179 cubic inch capacity red engines with either the hydromatic or 3 speed manual was a good vehicle. The HD model also introduced the X2/ which was the first attempt by GMH to produce a performance vehicle. Our HD also has the leather seats in the premier version and this was the last model to have dealership leather seats. This vehicle has 13.000 miles on the clock and is probably the most absolutely original and lowest mileage HD model in Australia, the vehicle in every aspect is "as new" and in fantastic condition of this model Holden which has significant motoring history.1965 Holden Premier sedan with 179 motorPremier on rear as well as a 179 badge. Vehicle - VY Acclaim sedan, 2002
The front and rear of the body had minor restyling, with new front grille, headlights and taillights. The interior has been significantly upgraded. Interior upgrade includes a new instrument panel, centre console and steering wheel and new design transmission lever and handbrake.[2] There is also a new mobile phone power outlet under the centre console. The new instrument cluster features a large multi-function digital display (single or triple-window, depending on model), which displays information such as radio station display, PRND321 gear selected indicator, trip computer with stopwatch function, service reminders and a help facility. Standard features (on some models) now include "twilight sentinel" - automatic headlamp control, programmable headlamps off time delay, high feature Blaupunkt audio systems, road-speed sensitive intermittent wipers and passenger airbags. The VY Series II update added cruise control, front power windows variable front seat lumbar support, and revised interior trims. A 245 kW (329 hp) V8 was introduced to sports variants and a sportier repositioning of the Calais model. This repositioning included a subtle body kit, the option of a 235 kW V8 in place of the previous 225 kW (302 hp) and a firmer suspension tune (known as FE 1.5) that was not as stiff as the FE2 suspension on sports variants. Released in September 2002 and produced until August 2004 (with a Series II released in August 2003), the VY series was the first major design departure (both inside and out) of the third generation Commodore range released in August 1997. Vehicle - VP model "Executive" sedan, September 1991 - July 1993
... -six Dual Ram engine. VP Holden Vehicle Car Lion and Stone ...The VP series was released in September 1991 with mainly cosmetic and feature changes to the outgoing VN Series Commodore. The 3.8 litre V6 and 5.0 litre V8 engines from the VN were carried over, but the V6 engine received various revisions that improved its refinement and noise. Semi-trailing arm IRS became standard on Calais and Commodore SS models and became an optional extra on lower-end models. This new suspension drastically improving ride and handling over that offered by the live rear axle. ABS brakes were also introduced in the VP range as an option on Series 1 Calais and Commodore SS models, and on most models with IRS for Series II versions. Additional security features were introduced across the range, including an ignition-disabling device and a driver's door deadlock. Power mirrors were also a standard feature across the model range. The VP Calais was also sold in Thailand, with 3.8 V6 version, later it used an Opel 2.6-litre C26NE inline-six Dual Ram engine.1991 model VP Holden commodore sedanLion and Stone badge on bonnet , Holden badge left hand side boot , Lion and Stone badge on boot centre, Commodore executive on boot right hand sidevp holden, vehicle, car -

Vehicle - VS model commodore, April 1995
... . Vehicle VS Commodore Car Lion and stone badge on Bonnet ...The extent of exterior changes veered not much further than a redesigned Holden logo and wheel trims. An updated Ecotec (Emissions and Consumption Optimisation through TEChnology) version of the Buick V6 engine coincided with the changes to the engine in the United States. The Ecotec engine packed 13 percent more power, an increase of 17 kilowatts (23 hp) over the VR, cut fuel consumption by 5 percent, and increased the compression ratio from 9.0:1 to 9.4:1. Holden mated the new engine with a modified version of the GM 4L60-E automatic transmission, bringing improved throttle response and smoother changes between gearsThe VS Commodore was the last of which to be sold as Toyota Lexcens, as Holden and Toyota ended their model-sharing scheme The last Lexcens were built during 1997This model was also sold between 1995 and 1997 in small numbers to Malaysia and Singapore as the Opel Calais.4 door sedan VS Commodore sedanLion and stone badge on Bonnet and on Boot centre, Commore on both mudguards Holden badge on Rear under tail lightsvehicle, vs commodore, car -

Vehicle - VN Commodore, 1988
The VN Commodore was available in Executive, S, SS, Berlina and Calais specification levels, although a more basic SL model (opt. code A9K) was supposedly offered to government and fleet buyers, as it was not officially listed as part of the Commodore range. Changes in the relative values of the Australian dollar, the Japanese yen, and the US dollar made it impractical to continue with the well-regarded Nissan engine of the VL. Instead, Holden manufactured their own 90-degree V6 based on an old Buick design from the US, although initially it was imported. The 5.0-litre V8 remained optional and received a power boost to 165 kW (221 hp). Both these engines used multi point GM EFI and the V6 using 3 coil-packs for ignition. Holden and HSV developed this car as the basis for racing in Group A Confederation of Australian Motor Sport events. While the minimum number of cars built to qualify in Australian Touring car Championships, with modified body kit, brakes or engine is 500, only 302 VN were built but CAMS granted an exemption allowing them to compete.Holden and HSV had worked hard to develop this car to be a serious competitor to the Skyline, Ford Sierra and the BMW which had dominated in the previous years. This was to be the Holden’s answer and coincided with the return of Peter Brock back to the Holden team from 1987.Mechanically the cars were fitted with reworked version of Holden’s 4.9 litre V8. The engine block was cast for additional strength, modified cylinder heads roller rockers and high fuel flow fuel injection was applied. Output was 215 kw at 5200revs and, though at today’s standard, that is not that much it was very impressive at that time. The drive was through a six speed ZF gearbox with a heavy duty racing clutch and a limited slip differential.Under the Hawke government's Button car plan, which saw a reduction in the number of models manufactured locally, and the introduction of model sharing, the VN Commodore was rebadged as the Toyota Lexcen, named after the late America's Cup yacht designer, Ben Lexcen. Subsequently, the Toyota Corolla and Camry were, similarly, badged as the Holden Nova and Holden Apollo.Red executive 4 door sedanHolden Lion and stone emblem grille centre, Commodore boot LHS, Lion and stone emblem boot RHS.vehicle, vn commodore, holden, car -

... situations. Vehicle VZ Holden Car Lion badge front grille,V6 badge ...Released in August 2004, the VZ series was a minor facelift of the previous VY series that featured a new V6 engine in different tune guises. The powerplants included 175 and 190 kW (235 and 255 hp), 3.6-litre Alloytec V6 engines in place of the older 3.8-litre Ecotec V6. Other changes to the V6 was the loss of the supercharger that was included in the S models The VZ Commodore was available in several model variations, most of which carried over from the VY range, with the exception of the newly introduced SV6, a specification level that replaced the S range. All models in the Commodore range (Executive, Acclaim, Berlina, Calais, SV6, SV8 and SS) were available as sedans. The advanced 3.6-litre Alloytec engines were more powerful, responsive and fuel-efficient than the outgoing Ecotec V6. To achieve 190 kW (255 hp), the Alloytec V6 gains variable valve timing on both inlet and exhaust sides as well as a dual stage intake manifold, while the 175 kW (235 hp) version retains variable valve timing on the inlet side only. Sales of the VZ series failed to match those of the preceding VY in light of rising small car sales, higher fuel prices and growing interest in the whole new replacement, the VE series. Selected models bring advanced active safety features that electronically assist the driver to maintain vehicle control in emergency situations. ... Holden 1965 Car 179 Badge on boot Holden across boot lid Blue ...The HD range replaced the Holden EH series which had been in production since 1963. The HD had a completely new body, which was wider and longer than that of the EH and offered significant increases in passenger space, load space and equipment level. Body styling exhibited strong similarities to Vauxhall's FC Victor of the previous year, including that car's unusual concave rear window. Disc brakes were offered for the first time on a Holden mode and the optional Hydramatic three–speed automatic transmission as used in the EH was replaced by a Powerglide two– speed unit. Three versions of the inline six cylinder Holden Red motor were available. The 100 bhp 149 cu in (2.4 L) six was standard in all models except the Premiers and a 115 bhp 179 cu in (2.9 L) six was standard on Premiers and optional on all other models.[Blue body with white roof , 4 door HD sedan. 63457-H179 Badge on boot Holden across boot lidvehicle, holden, 1965, car -

Badge - Gripman Badge, Stokes & Sons, Jul 1916 - Nov. 1919
... . This badge was used to identify a Gripman who operated a cable car ...This cable tram Gripman’s badge, or driver’s badge, was part of a tram driver’s uniform. The inscriptions on the front of the badge identify it as belonging to Gripman number 14, at the South Melbourne Car House depot of the Tramways Board. The Gripman Badge would be re-issued whenever another Gripman takes over the position. Cable trams were invented in America in 1873. In Melbourne, cable trams were in use from 1885 until 1940, with a network of up to 1200 cable cars or 'dummies' and trailers travelling at around 9.5 miles (15km) per hour along 46 miles (74km) of double tracks. The Gripman drove the dummy car, operating the heavy levers to connect the gripping gears to the cable installed in a slot in the road. To turn at intersections he would skilfully disconnect, freewheel around the corner and carefully reconnect to the continuously operating steel cable. Large winding gears in an Engine House along the line pulled the cable along, powered by steam engines and later electric engines. The gripping gears were in the centre of the car's floor with seating all around the sides, a dangerous place for curious children. , whose worried parents would guide them into the tram that was towed behind the dummy car. The Melbourne Tramways Board operated the cable trams between July 1916 and November 1919 after taking over from the privately operated Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Company. In 1919, the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB) took over the Tramways Board. Stokes & Sons: - The maker of the badge, Thomas Stokes, migrated to Melbourne from Birmingham in 1854 and set up business in Mincer Lane as a die-sinker, producing medals, tokens, buttons and silverware, and an engraving service. He moved to Flinders Lane in 1856. After a time, in 1894, the business became Stokes & Sons Pty: Ltd, electroplates and badge makers at Post Office Place in Melbourne. The maker's mark 'Stokes & Sons' was made on badges until 1962. LOCAL CONNECTION: -t was common practice to recycle the used cables from the tramway. For example, the Wollaston Bridge in Warrnambool, Victoria, is suspended by recycled cable tram Melbourne. (Other recycled cables were used for fencing wire.) -Portland's cable tram is an example of the cable trams used in Melbourne from 1885 to 1940.This badge was used to identify a Gripman who operated a cable car tram's dummy car for the Tramways Board in Melbourne between 1916 and 1919. It represents the need for people to be able to identify workers in the service industry, a need still addressed today by staff ID badges and digital identification. The badge also represents the period in Melbourne's history when cable cars were used for public transport for over four decades, gradually changing from steam to electric power. Trams still have an important role in Melbourne's public transport. Badge, round hollow metal dome with two open metal guides on the back.
