Else Oertel was a German internee in Camp 3A from 1940-1945. Woodworking was popular amongst the internees and it is probable that another internee in camp 3 made the buckle for Else. Her Italian neighbours, Mr & Mrs Manlio & Henrietta Pecchioni presented this prayer book to her in memory of their internment together.
