Reproduction slide of a photograph of a cable tram, trailer number 201, with the destination or Carlton with the grip man and conductor standing in front of the tram. Both are young men. The conductor is adorned with his safety pins and trip slips, that he would punch a hole in when he sold or collected a fare. The bell punch in the conductor's right hand would sound a bell to indicate the fare had been collected. There is a church vicarage in the background - at Prahran terminus in Chapel Street outside Trinity church. Underneath the photo is written "A Paradox: two Badger ?" which is a reference to the General Strike in Brisbane of Jan 1912 by Brisbane Tramway Company workers over the wearing of Union badges which was strongly opposed by the Company Manager Joesph 'Boss' Badger. Accurate charts were imperative for sea farers to sail their vessels safely from one side of the world to another. The British Admiralty published many charts and updated them frequently. Specialists were employed to gather information such as depth soundings to give the navigator as many helps as possible. At regular intervals the charts had to be updated with the amount of adjustment needed to a compass to allow for magnetic variation.This chart is significant for its association with incoming and outgoin ships for trade and passengers in the late 19th century.Admiralty Chart of Port Phillip, Victoria, South Coast of Australia. Set of two sheets of paper tickets - 3 x 1d and 2 x 1.5d, unnumbered for the Sandringham - Beaumaris electric tramway - possibly printed as a sample for discussion. This style of ticket was used for child fares. The reference pages 129 to 130 and figure 6-24 refer. This shortlived tramway 1926 to 1931 was known as "B Division" and would have allowed separate financial accounting. Manufactured by the Bell Punch Company Ltd of London as the "Ultimate Fare System", for issuing bus and tram tickets. Used by the MMTB for street sellers at Safety Zones in Melbourne. The machine was received from the donor with five rolls of NSW bus tickets - 3 Section, 25c, 45c, 60c and $1.00. Demonstrates a ticket machine used at Melbourne tram stops by "Safety Zone sellers".Complex apparatus consisting of metal parts, grey frame, levers, numbering counters, fitted with a cloth strap with clips and brown plastic backing.
