A photo of a group of young legatees at a swimming pool in 1953. There are 8 boys, of various ages, in swim gear and 2 men who could be the instructor and a Legacy member. Legacy clubs ran classes for junior legatees for many years, such as gymnastics and swimming classes. It was part of providing for the children of their deceased comrades. The skills they learned were show cased in an annual demonstration usually at the Melbourne Town Hall. It appears to be photo taken professionally, as there are several photos of different classes (see 00862 - 00867), a note of thanks was included in the Newsletter to Mr John Beckett of 22 Kirkwood Ave Sandringham for taking the photos and donating them to Legacy. This photo was published in the Legacy Newsletter Vol. 6 No 2 in September 1953. The names are, at rear: R. O'Farrell. Back row: T. McGowan, Bill Spendlove, G Spong, Charlie Maynard. Legacy clubs ran classes for junior legatees for many years, such as gymnastics and swimming classes. It was part of providing for the children of their deceased comrades. The skills they learned were show cased in an annual demonstration usually at the Melbourne Town Hall. It appears to be photo taken professionally, as there are several photos of different classes (see 00862 - 00867) perhaps to record Legacy classes for promotion purposes. Set of 9 pamphlets about the Neighbourhood ticket system - basically the same with changes for each neighbourhood. .1 - Eight page, A4, colour printed on gloss paper, centre stapled, titled "Announcing the arrival of Melbourne's new Metropolitan Transit system - Ringwood Neighbourhood" Explains the revised ticketing system, known as Neighbourhoods, notes the formation of The Met, uses a cartoon characterisation of vehicles, explains how the system works, boundaries, various options, travel cards, concessions and introductory offers. Note book, handwritten details the work carried out on MMTB trams between June 1974 and October 1975 at various depots. Proves the car number, depot, date, brief description of work. Entries have been individually crossed out, perhaps as a form written report completed. No details of the person who undertook the work. Report - black Rexene cloth card covers, 28 pages (including blank end and glued papers), sewn binding one section titled "Chairman's Report upon his Visit to Europe and America in connection with Electric Tramways 1923". Title gold blocked. Details Alex Cameron's 1923 visit to America, Great Britain and the Continent of Europe in connection (note different spelling to the cover) with electric tramways. In particular it was to investigate the question of the use of Conduit systems. Visited San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas City, St Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, New York and Washington. Then to London, Paris, Brussels. Also attended the Municipal Tramways Association conference held in Portsmouth, August 1923. His conclusions - conduit system not desirable, and the need to regulate buses from competition with tramways. Has an appendix extracts of numerous reports, letters and papers about the various issues. Report dated 29th Oct. 1924. Notes that the route had recently been extended to run through Docklands. Has contact details but no web site. Has the Victoria government and Yarra Trams logos. Tram was extended early 2003.
