Issued to John Cameron of 82 Victoria St Carlton, signed by the Secretary (Mr Warner). Note date of pass is 1-10-53, though it appears to be issued in 1955. Available to 30-6-1954. Has a photo of Mr. Cameron. Advised Mr. Cameron had lost a leg during the war. Note - not available on all night services. Has signs for the "Mail Echo", Plume petrol, ANA, the Mechanics Institute, and Longhurs Bread. On the rear Wal Jack has written extensive notes for Ken Magor noting the streets in the view and the Ballarat East loco depot and Goods shed. Was the leading mine in the field in the years 1883-4 and 1885 during which time it produced 65,898 oz of gold and paid $(?)399,800 in dividends. This mine was then situated on what in January, 1902, became the West Shaft. The Company was then amalgamated with the 'Princess Alexandra' (approx 100 yds further east) which then became the Main Shaft of the 'United Devonshire'. Although folder dated 23/2/62, the photo is taken before 12/1960, as tram has not been fitted with dash canopy lights, so date taken as for photograph BA1, Reg. Shows the style of overhead construction, signal contactors, the service station, its clock and associated advertising. Three ladies are crossing the road. Photo taken on 23.4.1950 at 3.05pm. Advertising on service station has Atlantic, Shell, and Castrol. Has multiple petrol dispensing bowsers. Clocks has directional arrows for Melbourne and Geelong. Tram tracks visible. Clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, 24/8/1971, about the first stage of Ballarat's changeover from trams to buses passes uneventfully yesterday with only minor difficulties being reported. Quotes Transport Regulation Boards Regional Office, Mr. A. Stott, a few parking problems with cars in bus bays, demand for timetables. Also has a quote from the director of Davis Bus Lines, about minor problems - passengers asking questions. Has a photograph of the SEC linesman dismantling overhead in Victoria St., as a trail. A gang from Melbourne will come to Ballarat early in September to pull down all the lines. Newspaper cutting published on the Tuesday. 2nd copy added 14/11/2002In red ink in upper right hand corner, "24/8/71" On sheet of paper, various pencil markings - with date Dec. 1963. Has the short tram stop/section pole adjacent to the tram. In the background has the SEC offices, "The Baby Shop", also Crockers and Tunbridge's stores. Note a Conductor can be seen walking across from the SEC offices to the tram. Date of photo on folder - 11/6/1960. Note: Reg Item 858 of Ron Fluck of 31/12/58 shows tram number to the side of the headlight while Wal Jack (Reg. Item 396) of 23/1/61 shows tram fitted with dash canopy lights.
