Photo shows a group of people outside Hermon's Refuelling Station (a brick building with a shop and a workshop). A woman stands, holding the hands of two children, aged about seven. A person dressed as Ronald McDonald sits on the back of a sports car. Bill Hermon and a mechanic stand further along. There is a driver in the car. According to Lyn McGillivray, daughter of Bill and Jean, "It was hilarious! Mum & Dad were asked if Ronald McDonald could get changed in our premises. They were in awe that this 'big-wig' would want/need to dress there for the short journey up the street to the new restaurant. I think it was us kids (young adults then) who set them straight!" The car is most likely a Purvis Eureka, a kit car based on a VW Beetle chassis. They were manufactured in Dandenong from 1974 - 1991. Information supplied by Jarrod Drager via Facebook.

William Hermon Snr, dressed in a loose dark three-piece suit, pale shirt and dark hat, is standing to the right of the image. He carries a long bullocky's whip over his right shoulder. Another man in waistcoat and shirtsleeves and a pale, wide-brimmed hat stands beside him. A third man in suit and hat stands behind the team. There is a post and rail fence which then becomes a picket fence in front of a treed area, and then a large weatherboard building which is apparently the Centre Hotel (now Middle Hotel?) in Upper Ferntree Gully. The photo is mounted in a fancy frame. Dated 1913.

B&W postcard sent to Jean Hermon's mother, Jane Beazley. It shows two men standing on a railway jigger and a third man in front of them, seated on a small three-wheeled vehicle on the track. All are dressed in hats, waistcoat, trousers and shirts. The railway line passes through thick bush. 'Narrow Gauge Rly. Gembrook' is printed at the bottom right corner. The original postcard has three patches where the surface is missing.

Cissie is wearing a pale, knee-length dress, dark stockings, and a pale, wide-brimmed hat. She is aged about 10. A medium sized dark dog sits at Percy's feet. The house is an L-shaped weatherboard with two gables at right-angles and a verandah with a bullnosed roof, ornate support posts, and a striped end piece from the roof. Wooden steps lead down from side. There is a large brick chimney where the two wings meet, and a metal water tank to the side. There are large trees, both in leaf and dead, plus some flowers near the verandah.

These are most likely part of the cypress hedges lining the driveway to Glen Park Farm farmhouse. In the background is the eastern flank of Black Hill. A small shed can be seen beside the driveway, partly obscured by the jinker's wheel. Dated c.1913.

The jacket is undone. Cissy looks to be about 3 or 4. She is wearing a dark, knee-length dress with a yoke, long sleeves, and a light, wide lace collar. She has dark stockings and calf-length buttoned boots. She has a bow in her hair. The children are standing in front of an ornate wicker chair with one arm resting on the arm of the chair. The name 'Melba' is written on the cardboard frame around the photo, and 'Melba [illegible but presumably '& Co.'] Melbourne' is embossed on the bottom right corner of the photo.
