These photographs were taken at the Country Education Project's conference at Dinner Plain, Victoria. The Country Education Partnership (CEP) has been working in the area of rural and remote education for over three decades. It was initially established in Victoria during 1977 and in 2012 it changed its name from Country Education Project. In 3098.9 are Al Balfour (Far East Gippsland Area Coordinator CEP); John Pritchard (Orbost); and Kennie Ellis (Ministry of Education) at FEAST at Dinner Plain. A cultural grant was given to Margaret BRIDE to implement this study, which she did with the help of her husband Graham and several residents of the study area including PMH&PS members Emily LOCK, David THOMPSON, Jack BOLT and Kerrie MATHEE.History of a Street Precinct, documenting 80 years plus of the history of the area bounded by Williamstown Road and Evans, Bridge and Farrell Streets, since 1880. One of two products of a 2005 project (which subsequently won the 2007 Victorian Local History Award for research). A brochure containing a map of the area and photos and information on key properties. An interactive CD (2148.02) containing information and photographs on 91 buildings and their occupants over time was also produced. built environment -

Port of EchucaPlaque - Timber sign, Murray River Sawmills, 1926
This large wooden sign was originally attached to the barge D26 which was one of the 4 barges used to carry logs behind the PS Adelaide. The D indicated that it was the fourth barge to be built in 1926 by Murray River Sawmills. The number represented the year it was built.This original timber piece, salvaged from the D26 barge is an important relic from an original outrigger logging barge from the early 20th century, one of the last logging barges built as the Murray River timber trade was declining. The barge was restored by the Port's chief shipwright Kevin Hutchinson with assistance from Laurie Rendle and Alan Battsch. and the PS Adelaide is also a significant feature in the Port's collection. The artist, a member of this Society (self portrait inside cover), did several paintings of Creswick House, one of which was purchased by the owner Isobel Macbeth (also a PMH&PS member), who waved this item for the collection. City of Port Phillip instigated the competition re the 'no-name' plaza in October 1999, and the winner was announced 14 Nov at the PMH&PS's 'Lee-ar-day Days' event.
