It was built for Gwendoline Pitman after the death of her father Clarence Pitman and the disappearance of her sister Olive in July 1926. This photograph was published in Church and Nation, May 8 1985. It shows Jack Sherwill (centre) at work during the last camp he cooked for - Easter 1984. Others with him from left, Wayne Minge (Dandenong), Judy Cakebread (Benalla), Terry Ellis (Benalla) and Lionel Moore (Springhurst). Mr Sherwill became chief cook at the first Wandiligong Easter Camp in 1958. This album is possibly a collection printed from newspaper files. It has a wide variety of local scenes from haymaking, sports, social functions, beach scenes. Some names have been written in greylead, identifying some of the people in the photos and others are recognizable backgrounds such as the Peterborough Golf ClubWhile these images are not of true photographic quality, they do provide images of local scenes and activities which were relevant to the area in the mid 20th century. Some such as lifesaving carnivals, bike riding and golf continue to this day, others showing the hand raking of hay are long gone.Green card cover with red binding. This group is signing the visitors' book at the Orbost State School "Back To" on March 1 1937. The school burnt down three years later in 1940 under suspicious circumstances.
