Poster - Framed Notice, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), "Our Safe Working Days Score", 1950's
Demonstrates the safety record of the SEC Ballarat depot, has a strong association with the workers and Yields information about their performance and dates.Timber framed box, glass fronted, Masonite back, painted black on the edges and front with a slot on the underside and metal catch screwed to the timber that allowed a preprinted poster to be slid out from the base. The poster titled "Our Safe Working Days Score", provided with secured to the poster, four metal sheets pressed with three rounded edges to allow a paper strip to be slid in from the right hand side and secured. Poster has been preprinted for the SEC Electricity Supply Department". The top strip gave the name of the location "Ballarat - Tram - Depot", the second strip - no sheet present and purpose not known, date since the last event "9-4-69" and the previous best score - "982" days.trams, tramways, depot, sec, safety, personnel -

Extract Hansard, Legislative Council, 2/10/1968, titled "Ballarat and Bendigo Tramways - Proposed Abandonment". Sir Percy Byrnes moved that the proposed abandonment by the SEC be not made. Pages 471 to 494 reports on the speach by Sir Percy, I.A. Swinburne who seconded the motion, V.O. Dickie who opposed the motion for the Government. Others who spoke were , F. J. Granter, F.S. Grimwade, J.M. Tripovich. The Motion was supported by the Country and Labor parties who had the numbers in the upper house. Photocopy of an article in the State Electricity Commission of Victoria Magazine, Contact, Vol 2, No. 3, Nov 1937 titled "Ballarat Tramway Extension". Single A3 sheet. The item details the opening event for the extension of the Lydiard St. tramway to Norman St or Ballarat North, or Lydiard St. North on 30/8/1937. Has a photo of the Mayor, Cr. J. Pryor cutting the ribbon. Gives names of officials who attended or spoke at the function at Electra Hall following the event. Notes the relationship between the SEC and the Council. Included in those who spoke at the event was Robert Haines, Motorman - Conductor "who has achieved fame by completing 50 years service". Record revised 3/4/2019 to add digital images with those from Andrew Cook CD. Yields information about costing by the SEC to upgrade the tram tracks and trams in both Ballarat and Bendigo and the basis.Copy of a report sent by the Melbourne office, Engineer and Manager SEC to the Manager Ballarat Branch, 12/2/1962, titled "Tramways - Ballarat / Bendigo Abandonment". Notes the 1934-37 rehabilitation was palliative in nature, and now must be "in to stay" or "eliminated". Melbourne costs given, the cheapest form adopted, Ballarat cost about 1million pounds and Bendigo 600,000. New cars imported about 20,000 each. Total cost based on 40 cars, about 2.5m pounds. Photocopy of a transcript prepared by Lloyd Jenkins and draft copy with corrections in blue and black ink of an interview with Mr. Sam Clack at 116 Victoria St. Ballarat, 22 January 1987, who was 88 at the time of the interview. Mr. Sam Clack, was a boiler cleaner with the ESCo in the Wendouree Parade power station, the takeover by the SEC, working conditions, Creswick Road (B station), wages, details of the equipment, air raid shelters, WWII, Social activities, and job satisfaction. This card from the Warrnambool Amateur Turf Club is a pass for a lady for the meeting of 5th May 1914. This day was part of the three-day 1914 May Racing Carnival which featured the Warrnambool Cup and the Grand Annual Steeplechase. The first organized horse race in Warrnambool was held in 1848 at Jetty Flat and the Warrnambool Racecourse was first in use in 1858 with the Warrnambool Racing Club established in 1873. The Warrnambool Amateur Turf Club was established in 1859 and was the only Amateur Turf Club in Victoria. It no longer exists This card is of interest as it is a memento of the Warrnambool Amateur Turf Club, an important early sporting club in Warrnambool. It is also an early memento of the Warrnambool May Racing Carnival, today a premier sporting event in the city and beyond and it is officially a Victorian Major Event. This is a small piece of light cardboard, blue on one side and white on the other. The card has rounded edges. On the blue side it has the emblem of the Warrnambool Amateur Turf Club and gold printing. Gives details of 18 tables or runs, numbered from 12 Run to 38 Run. Each sheet headed "Weekdays". Each run details where the driver/conductor would sign on, time, the trips, meal breaks, finish time and the total time of the shift.
