A postcard in a series produced by the Rose Stereograph Company in Victoria, Australia as a souvenir of Marysville.A black and white photograph of the Wood's Point Road in Marysville , Victoria. This is now known as the Marysville-Wood's Point Road. The Marysville-Woods Point Road was originally part of the Yarra Track, constructed in the early 1860s to provide access between Healesville and the Woods Point Goldfields. Despite the steep terrain and engineering difficulties, the Yarra Track soon became a busy route used by pack horses, horse-drawn drays, and wagons. The Michaeldene Trail is a level two loop that leads to the Taggerty River Lookout and may be undertaken as either as a Short (2.7 km) Loop, or a Long (4.3 km) Loop - 30 minutes to one hour and a half. The attractive bushland linking the Steavenson and Taggerty Rivers allows walkers and cyclists to step back in time to Marysville’s historic logging past. Sections of this mostly flat circuit follow old tramline alignments, which in places reveal the original timber sleepers on which the big logs were transported to the nearby sawmill.The Taggerty River Lookout offers views over the Taggerty River. The Trestle Bridge was built to span a small gully and provide access to the timber on Red Hill. Lady Talbot Drive is named after Lady Sarah Elizabeth, the wife of Sir Reginald Talbot, who was the Governor of Victoria from 25th April, 1904 to 6th July 1908. This road was originally constructed as a corduroy road (or log road) is a type of road or timber trackway made by placing logs, perpendicular to the direction of the road over a low or swampy area. John Allan FLEMING enlisted on 19.1.1916 age 26 years 6 months in C Coy 38th Bn Regt No 873, appointed Cpl 5.3.1916 then Sgt 6.3.1916, appointed CSM 20.4.1916, embark for England 20.6.1916, he was appointed Lieutenant as he was hospitalised with fever on 18.8.1916, rejoin unit 24.8.1916, embark for France 22.11.1916, 28.11.1916 attached to 10th LTMBattery, discharged from the AIF on 5.5.1919. Post War he had a career in the CMF ending in 1945.This is a B & W photo of a boxer in bare fisted fighting stance. He has a tattooed chest which appears to be of a dragon. He is wearing dark coloured trunks and wearing a Championship belt. See Cat 6634, On the rear of the postcard, written in pencil, are the words Championship Boxing Belt (?8) BN 1st AIF. On the photos is the caption in French and English. The front cover is missing. Some of the postcards are detached on the "dotted edge". The first two cards have a letter written in pencil from soldier J. Burns to his mum.On the back of photo 1 & 2 is written the letter from J. Burns to his Mum. Dated Bouffioul - Belgium. 3-3-19. Dear Mum, These are a few views of Waterloo, we went right up to the top of this place. This is where all the dead soldiers were buried, so they built this big mound it.
