The International Poma at Falls Creek is a 1,219 metre long Pomalift. Pomalifts are named after their inventor, Polish born French manufacturer Jean Pomagalski. The first poma at Falls Creek was called the International because it serviced the area where a F.I.S. (Fédération Internationale de Ski) international race was held in 1960. It was built over the 1968-69 summer and was ready to operate in 1969, but due to a poor snow season, the 'Inter' didn't open to the public until 1970. The author of this article, Wolfgang Lert, was a pioneer of the ski industry in the USA. He was also editor of Western Skiing, forerunner to Ski Magazine, and a founding member of the International Skiing History Association. The company name on the back of this article is Dulmison (Aust) Pty Ltd. This company was founded in c1961 and played an integral role in development of solutions for power supply problems for the Kosciusko State Park Trust and other ski fields.This article is significant because it outlines procedures for the use of an iconic chairlift used on ski fields throughout the world, including the International Poma at Falls Creek, Victoria. Australian Magazine (A.M.) published a special three page article about Falls Creek and the Bogong High Plains on 24th August 1954. The article was titled "Australia's playground of the future". Written by Muir Maclaren, it referred to the Bogong High Plains as a comparatively new and unexploited winter playground which could be one of the best snow resorts in the world. There were 13 huts which were at Falls Creek which were there due to "hard work, the grace of God, and the permission of the Victorian State Electricity Commission". A brief history of the Albury Ski Club Lodge was included. In 1954 the Lodge was run byLes Meikle and had the Club had a membership of 200 people. Lodges with accommodation established at this time, with the ability to house a total of 280 people, included Albury, Skyline, Bogong, Myrtleford, Hymans, Dawn, Galleon, Kiewa Valley, Snowden, Nelse, Moroma, Trowalla, St, Trinian's, Bowna and Nissen. The reporter also interviewed Skippy and Toni St. Elmo and gave a description of the tow and its fees. Here we have an Annual General Meeting notice and report which would have been sent to all bands and delegates. It outlines the business of the league up until this date and the financial details. This is a unique item of band history. Here we have a circular that was sent around to the citizens of Richmond advising them to check the identity of their collectors to make sure they weren't from the rival band! The Richmond City Band was formed in 1900 but only lasted another 30 years. The rival band was the Richmond Boys' Band. The circular also outlines the success of the band in competitions as well as the amount of money it has raised for charities. This circular presents a window on the past activities of the band which is special considering records of the band are few and far between - their band hall was destroyed by fire in 1926.This circular is significant as a record of the activities of the Richmond City Band. It was presented to The Rt. Hon. L. C. M. S. Amery, P. C., M. P, Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs on the occasion of his visit to the Hume Reservoir on 2nd November 1927. This album is of local and national significance as it documents the planning and development of the Hume Reservoir up to 1927. It was the largest water reservoir in the British Empire. The Title for the land on which this building stands was granted on 27 August 1857 and the land was bought by Keith Field and A. Maitland. It stood on 1 / 2 acre of land with 250 lengths down South Street and 200 lengths along Sydney Road. The 1 / 2 acre block on the northern side was also purchased by the same buyers. The State Savings Bank was built in 1915, just three years after the State Savings Bank of Victoria was established. It was branch number 731. The building served as a bank until about 1970. It is now owned and used as an office by a local law firm. It is a single storey rendered masonry building with a parapet concealing the roof. Key features of the High Street facade are horizontal bands of masonry, timber windows outlined with moulded details and ornamentation accentuated the door. A more modern branch was opened in a more central location in HIghs Street. The State Bank of Victoria was taken over by the Commonwealth Bank in 1990. They had met to discuss Legacy wishing to cooperate with the department in the administration of its Scheme for the Education of the Children of Deceased and Totally Permanently Incapacitated Soldiers. He goes on to outlines ways Legacy can help and details of the scheme. The notation H48 in blue pen shows that it was part of the archive project that was trying to capture the history of Legacy.
