This map has been owned by the Ryder Family of the Kiewa Valley for possibly over 100 years (1905?). It was used when the family mustered and maintained cattle on their grazing lease on the Bogong High Plains. This blazer would have been worn by a member of the Warrnambool District Football Umpires Association at formal and social occasions. This Association was founded in 1946 and continues today, providing umpires for football matches in the Warrnambool District including the Hampden Football League.This uniform came from a Collectables Shop in Fairy Street, Warrnambool but the original owner is unknown. The blazer is a memento of a Warrnambool sporting group of interest and would be useful for display.This is a black cloth blazer with beige and black bands on the sleeves and pockets. It has one silver coloured button and one missing at the front. Inside the blazer is black lining at the top. The sleeves have a white and black pin striped lining. This ensemble would have been worn early in the second half of the 20th century. It would have been worn on special occasions rather than for everyday wear and would perhaps have been worn with a hat, gloves and high heels. This ensemble is retained as an example of a women’s outfit worn in the 1960s and 70s. It will be useful for display. This is a cotton wove dress and jacket in matching material. The pattern has bands width-ways and is in grey, brown and cream colouring. The dress is sleeveless with a rounded neckline and a zip at the back. The skirt section is slightly flared. The cape is of a style from the Victorian or the Edwardian Era and so provides a good example of women's clothing from that time. The light colour, silk material and lace suggest a cape used for special occasions with the possibility of initially being a wedding cape.The item is of significance historically and socially as an example of women's clothing in the Victorian and Edwardian eras.Ladies cape consisting of two circular tiers and a collar. The inner tier is knee length with a thin lace insert around the hem. The outer tier is elbow length with a wide lace edge and the thin lace insert inside this. The collar has lace edging and a lace insert of the same width. The lace used is of a repeat flower pattern most likely made of a combination of silk and cotton. The cape material appears to be a cream ribbed silk with the lining being of a polished cotton or silk variety. Both materials have a silken sheen in the right light. A silk ribbon ties the cape at the neck. This petticoat dress was sewn by Mrs. van den Heuvel and her friend M/s Jos Tersteeg for Marjo van den Heuvel to wear under a white dress on the occasion of her cousin Peter Beeker's First Holy Communion.The material was obtained from one of the many parachutes that became available during the Allied offensive of 1944/45. This material was very welcome after the deprivations suffered during the 5 year German occupation.
